Fall running plans

Ever since I made the decision back in June that I would be deferring MCM, my fall race calendar has been left wide open. And with the god-awful humidity of this summer and rehabbing my hammy, I’ve been pretty happy to keep my running fairly low-keyed.

But we’re now entering into my favorite season for running and racing and it’s almost impossible for me to miss out on all the fun and not jump into at least one or two races.

So here’s what I’m thinking…

Ocean Road 10K — features a great course running up the Rhode Island coast to Narragansett. I was eyeing this one last year but it sold out before I could pull the trigger so I didn’t wait too long to make a decision this year. And, good thing too because it did sell out again! Added bonus – my husband J will be running with me!

Reebok 10K for Women — formerly the Tufts 10K, I haven’t run this race in a long time. It’s a fun run through Boston and held on Columbus Day. Hopefully, with the school holiday, I can make this one work.

Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds 10K — this is a (new to me) local race that would fit nicely into my half marathon training plan …which leads me to…

Harborside Half Marathon — I had to take a DNS on this race last year so it would be great to get a chance to run this one!

  1. Sounds like a great line up! And that’s great that your husband will be running that first 10k with you 🙂

  2. I’m envious of all those 10ks! That distance has become rather rare around here. Honestly I’d much rather run shorter these days than longer…says the idiot who signed up for an 8k and a marathon….

  3. 10k’s are also my favorite distance and we usually have a bunch in fall as well. Now we just need actual fall temps 😜

  4. I’ve got a half marathon in 2 weeks and I’m planning on at least one more this fall…

  5. There aren’t too many 10ks around here and I like that distance. I transferred my bib for MCM and I am so happy I did that as I have no plans to run another marathon anytime soon.

I am running in WI in September, CO in October, and GA in November. 🙂

  6. You know I’m doing RnR PHilly in two weeks. I also have a (just for fun) 5K at the end of the month a marathon after that. I’d like to do one more half (early November), too…stay tuned 😉 I wish we had more 10K races in my area.

  7. I like your Fall running plans – those sound like some really good races and I love that your husband is going to run one of the those races with you!

  8. I love the races you’ve chosen. I want to run in RI someday. How cool that your hubby races with you.

10K is a great distance. I wish there were more around where I live.

I am excited to fall because I am running a race in Montreal and Paris!!!!!!!!

  12. So many great 10Ks. I did the Ocean Road 10K last year and loved it. What a beautiful course!

  13. Those are all awesome choices!

I have a few shorter races on the docket, just because our longer races don’t start until October or November. I might try ZOOMA Amelia Island, and then we will see from there.

  14. I like that you have a number of 10ks on your list. Signing up for a 10k hasn’t really been on my mind this year but hopefully I can change that in the near future.

  15. That looks like a great fall race schedule! Perfect for training for a half while having some fun along the way!
I love 10ks, but I have not run for for a while.
Hope cooler temps and less humidity come your way!

  16. What a fantastic running lineup. I wish we had more 10Ks around me, but for some reason they seem to be a lot more rare these days. While I don’t knock a quick fun 5k, they’ve become (dare i say it) too easy and I much prefer the longer runs.
