Five Things Over April Coffee

Happy Friday! For this week’s Fit Five Friday I’m linking up with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date. So let’s chat.

Five Things Over April Coffee

Over coffee, I would tell you that this weekend we’re celebrating Ryker’s Gotcha Day! Hard to believe he’s been with us a year already. At his recent vet appointment he weighed in at a solid 88 pounds, and he’s not done growing yet!

Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m kinda obsessed with the Waterllama app. I installed it on my phone a couple of months ago and do feel like it’s helped me to get a better handle on how much (or how little!) I’ve been hydrating. I really like that you can easily log water, coffee, tea, wine, etc. and then the app calculates hydration levels for different beverages so you have a more accurate picture of your hydration beyond just tracking water alone.

And speaking of obsessions, over coffee, I would share that my current snack obsession is Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate-covered Pistachios – they are ridiculously addictive!

Over coffee, I would tell you I’m currently part of a wear test for a running shoe brand. It’s been an interesting process – the test runs about 6 weeks and there are detailed surveys to complete along the way, but there’s to be no discussion of the product and no photos on social media. So different from your typical product review! I’ll be curious to see what comes of all of this at the end and perhaps I’ll get to share more in a future post.

And while we’re on the topic of running shoes, over coffee I would share how bummed I was to learn that one of my favorite local running stores is closing its door at the end of the month as the owner wants to move on to do other things. The entire store is now 30% off so it seems like the perfect time to pick up a pair (or two) of my current favorite shoes, don’t ya think?

What would you tell me over coffee? Any snacking faves? Do you buy multiple pairs of the same running shoe?

March Coffee Date

Happy March ~ Happy Friday!

It’s time for another edition of Fit Five Friday! We’re also rolling into the first weekend of the month which means Coco and Deborah are hosting the Ultimate Coffee Date. So grab a mug of your fave beverage and let’s chat a bit.

Coffee Date ~ March 2026

Over coffee I would tell you, I’ve launched a 31-day movement challenge for the month of March. After seeing my motivation ebb and flow over the last couple of weeks (thanks in no small part to the weather), I wanted to kick things into gear and regain some consistency.

Over coffee I would tell you that we’re thinking of taking on another renovation project. When we did our major remodel back in 2024, there were sections of the house we left intact so we could live here while under construction. Now one of those areas which includes the first floor bath, is due for a much-needed refresh! The big question of the day is whether we’re going to go the DIY route or call our contractor.

What would you tell me over coffee? Are you a do-it-yourself-er?

Coffee Chat – February ’26 Edition

For this week’s Fit Five Friday I’m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. So grab a mug and let’s chat!

Coffee Chat – February ’26 Edition

Over coffee, I’d have to mention how excited I am that my beloved Patriots are back in the Super Bowl! Looking forward to Sunday’s game.

Over coffee, I’d share that I just finished reading Shonda Rhimes’ Year of Yes: 10th Anniversary Edition. It is an updated edition with some new chapters added to the original (which I read when it first came out). While I’m not sure the new chapters were necessary, but I did enjoy revisiting the book’s central message of the power of leaning in and saying yes to yourself and not letting fear shrink you.

Over coffee, I’d tell you while I was down with a cold last month that I became mildly obsessed with the Jigsaw 3D app on my iPad. I love puzzles and this was a fun way to pass some time while stretched out on my couch.

Over coffee, I’d marvel at the fact that I’m approaching the one-year anniversary for my hip surgery. Last year this time walking was painful and I was anxiously counting down the days… and now I’m celebrating almost 4 months of my return to running. What a difference a year makes!

What would you tell me over coffee?

Over coffee, I would ask your about your holidays. Mine was very relaxed, full of lots of laughs, food, and family. My heart is full and it was a great way to wind down the roller coaster that was 2025.

Over coffee, I would tell you how excited I was to receive the email announcing that I am a Shokz Ambassador for 2026! I’ve been running with Shokz for years (like back when they were known as AfterShokz!) so it’s great to be working with a brand I truly love! The Last Coffee Catch Up of 2025

Well here we are friends, the last month of year! I’m ready to savor all that the holiday season has to offer – we know these days will slip away all too quickly.

It’s a great time to catch up over coffee with friends, so for this week’s Fit Five Friday, I’m joining Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. Grab a mug and join us!

The Last Coffee Catch Up of 2025

Over coffee, I would share a quick update on my C25K plan – I’m half way through week 5 and so far so good! I’ve ventured off the track for some runs to get used to running on uneven surfaces again. There may have even been a hill or two in a recent run 😉

Over coffee, I’d tell you, that I am once again doing one of my favorite fitness challenges, #3for31. This challenge, created by Peloton instructor Robin Arzon, is to run/walk 3 miles or move 30 minutes daily during the month of December. It’s a great reminder to carve out time for yourself during what can be one of the busiest times of the year.

Over coffee, I’d tell you how much I’m looking forward to hitting some of the holiday markets around Boston this month – I love the chance to support smaller, local vendors.

We never miss the SOWA Winter Festival

Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m looking forward to breaking out the Christmas decorations this weekend. I have once again lost the debate with my husband on real vs. fake tree so we’ll take care of all of the lights and outdoor decorations, along with most of the indoor stuff and then save getting the tree for another week (to avoid it drying out too soon).

Your turn – what would you tell me over coffee?

November Coffee Chat

It’s that time again for a little catch-up over coffee with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date. And, of course, it’s Friday so that means another Fit Five Friday link-up! So grab a mug of your fave hot beverage and let’s chat. (This post contains affiliate links).

November Coffee Chat

Over coffee, I would tell you I kicked off my C25K program this week! It’s fun to have running to look forward to again – I think my biggest challenge will be to keep my enthusiasm in check. Gotta stick to the plan and not try to do too much too soon.

Over coffee, I would tell you after a very full and fun October, I’m happy to see more white space on the calendar this month. I always feel like once we hit November 1st that it’s a mad sprint to the end of the year so I’m going to try hard to slow down a bit – savor the days and the upcoming family time.

Over coffee, I would ask you what you’re reading? I’m wrapping up The Art of Gathering for next week’s book club then I have Culpability and The Guest List waiting on my nightstand. With some quieter days ahead, I’d like to get in more reading so let me know if you have a recommendation.

What would you tell me over coffee?

Five Things Over October Coffee

It’s time for another edition of Fit Five Friday – and what better way to kick off a weekend than with a little coffee catch-up with friends?

I’m joining Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date, so grab a mug, and let’s chat!

Five things Over October Coffee

Over coffee, I would tell you how happy I am that October has arrived – it is probably one of my favorite months! I love all things fall – apple picking, leaf-peeping, hiking, and afternoon football games. October is also my anniversary month – my husband and I will be celebrating 33 years!

Over coffee, I’d tell you that after some glorious fall weather in September, Mother Nature’s now playing a game of bait and switch with the weather as the forecast is showing temps in the 80s for this weekend and most of next week. C’mon – I’m ready for sweaters and boots already!

Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m amazed at how well the roses continue to thrive in my garden. I don’t ever remember having so many blooms so late in the season – perhaps the upside of this crazy weather pattern.

Over coffee, I would share a puppy update: Ryker is now 8 months and approaching 75 lbs with no signs of slowing down! He’s a crazy bundle of energy and still pulls like crazy on the leash, which makes walking him quite the adventure. He’s also the biggest snuggler – he’s been such a fun addition to our household.

Catching up in size to his big brother!

Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m looking forward to a pretty packed calendar this month – lots of plans to catch up with friends over lunches, dinners and coffee. I’m also super excited to finally see Hamilton performed live!

Now I’d tell you that my cup is empty and I need a refill. So your turn, what would you tell me over coffee?

September Coffee Chat

It’s Friday, right? Please tell me I’m not the only who has a hard time keeping track of what day it is after a long weekend!

It’s time for another edition of Fit Five Friday – and since it’s the first Friday of the month I’m joining Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. Let’s chat a little…(this post contains affiliate links).

September Coffee Chat

Over coffee, I would tell you that we had a great time in Stowe! The weather was perfect and we made the most of it with lots of hiking and kayaking. After missing out last year because of my hip, I soaked up every minute of it!

Enjoying a quiet moment on the water!

Over coffee, I would tell you how much I’m looking forward to returning to the mountains later this month when my hubs and I head to one of our all-time favorite inns located in the White Mountains. We haven’t been since before Covid so it will be really nice to get back there.

Over coffee, I would tell you how much I enjoyed my first book club meeting. Of the two selections (we read two books with a related theme, one fiction and one non), I absolutely loved The Midnight Library. For our next selections, we’ll be reading A Man Called Ove and The Art of Gathering. Currently, I’m enjoying The Three Lives of Cate Kay.

What would you tell me over coffee? What are you looking forward to this month?

August Coffee Chat

Hello August!

The days just continue to click by at a rapid pace, and here we are once again at the start of a new month.

And, what better way to start off August then with a little coffee catch up with friends – so for this week’s Fit Five Friday I’m joining Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. Let’s chat!

Over coffee, I would tell you that birthday celebrations are in full swing in my house with both my sons’ birthdays being just a week apart and my husband’s is in a couple of weeks. I will mark another trip around the sun on Monday so, of course, I will start celebrating this weekend and then continue all month long! 🙂

Over coffee, I would tell you that later this month we’re heading back to our favorite spot in Stowe. I love being in the mountains and am looking forward to some time hiking, kayaking and unplugging with the family!

What would you tell me over coffee? Do you like to celebrate your birthday or do you let the day slide by quietly?

July Coffee Chat – Book Edition

It’s the first Friday of the month so that means for this week’s Fit Five Friday, I’m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. So grab your fave beverage and let’s catch up!

July Coffee Chat – Book Edition

I’ve previously mentioned here that one of my goals for the year is to make more time for reading – and so far I’m doing pretty well with this goal. (This post contains affiliate links)

Over coffee, I would tell you that I recently finished Show Don’t Tell by Curtis Sittenfeld and Dawn Staley’s memoir, Uncommon Favor. Sittenfeld’s was a collecion of 12 short stories, some of which I found more enjoyable than others. I had expected to fly through this one but I have to say it was more of a struggle.  However, I really enjoyed Staley’s book – I’ve been a big fan of hers since her college basketball days, her Olympic runs, and now as an incredibly successful college coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks.

And, speaking of books, over coffee, I would tell you that recently I stepped out of my comfort zone to join a book club. The club was started by a former collegue and aside from her and another former collegue I won’t know anyone in the group. I’ve been looking for ways to expand my “community” and I like the premise of the club, which is to read two books – one fiction and one non-fiction – that are thematically related to discuss, so I thought why not?

The first selections are The Midnight Library by Matt Haig and Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman – the former explores themes of regret, self acceptance and the meaning of a fulfilling life, while the latter challenges ideas around productivity and time management in favor of focusing on what’s most meaningful in the present moment – should make for interesting reading and discussion.

Over coffee, I would tell you that I have eight other books on my “to read” list. Reading is helping me to minimize my doom-scrolling on social media – so please send any suggestions you have my way!

What would you tell me over coffee? What are you currently reading?
