April Wrap and May Goals

And just like that another month comes to a close! As always, I’m joining Holly & Tricia for the Weekly Wrap. When you’re done here, please visit these two great ladies and all of the other bloggers linking up.

For April I set 5 goals …so how did it go?

Run all the miles — Hmm a bit of a mixed bag. As I mentioned in my Runfessions, my body is just not tolerating the mileage build up yet, so while runs were not missed, they were sometimes shorter than planned.

Lose the negative thoughts — While there is still work to do here, I think I did much better with this over the past month.

Return to morning runs — YES!

Step-up the strength work — Another big YES!

Lose 3 pounds — Um no…hence the commencing of the food journaling.

All-in-all I would say it was a fairly solid month.

With my first race of 2016 coming in a few weeks, my goals remain pretty much the same. I want to build on the progress I made in April and be able to answer a big YES to all of these by the end of this month. I’m also going to use May to explore training options for my fall races, because the way these days are ticking by, summer training will be here before you know it. Would you believe it’s just 20 weeks until #RnRPhilly in September?…yes, I counted…don’t judge.

Time flies

So tell me how did April treat you? Any big goals for May?

  1. I really need to get on those goals, don’t I? Right now I’m still basking in the post-Big Sur glow and loving it. Just a little longer…

  2. Sounds like you’re making good progress even though some runs may be shorter than you like! My goal this month is to make some more progress in physical therapy and get back to running. I have a race in Sept. too and I know it will sneak up on me quicker than I think!

  3. No big goals – just mixing things up. I’ve got 3 lbs to lose too. They didn’t fall off last week and I indulged this weekend, so I have to get back after them!

    • You know I like you plan of mixing things up. I’m hoping if I can get these 3 lbs to go the other 7 I want to lose will follow…baby steps!

  4. April was a really fun, full month for me. I’m running for fun until June and it’s really nice! Glad you had a good month even if you ran a bit less than you wanted to!

  5. Yoda is so wise! If you counted 20 weeks until RnR Philly, then my marathon can’t be far behind. Yikes on that summertime training. I haven’t made any May goals. I’m feeling a little lost. My 3 pounds have now become 5 or 6. Oddly enough I’m always heavier in the summer when more of my body shows. Oh the irony! Good luck with your May goals. Thanks for linking with us Michelle.

    • Well my 3 lbs are really 10, but I’m hoping if I chunk it up (no pun intended!) I’ll make some progress and then get on a roll.

  6. It looks like you had a great week of training. You did a great job on most of your April goals as well. I also have looked at the calendar and while I just finished a marathon last weekend, my next one is in early October and that is not that far away. I only hope I can enjoy a few more weeks of easy training!

  7. You did great on some big ones. I’m right there with you on weightloss. I’m sure I gained some back so not getting on the scale has been my solution. Ugh.

    • Thanks Marcia. I’m hoping that maybe if the warm weather shows up and sticks around I’ll be less inclined to keep reaching for the comfort foods.

  8. I have a fitness challenge for work this month and a 5k race on the 14th, but after that I really want to stay off my feet an let whatever foot pain I have work itself out. I want to be in good shape for summer running!

  9. Time definitely seems to fly! Great job on a solid month!

  12. You are making good progress on your goals! How do you food journal? I used to log my food on Fitness Pal, but it feels like too much work!

I hope the positive thinking gets better!

    • Thanks Ana 🙂 For the journal I’ve been trying to just track what I eat and when …and I agree with you, it does feel like a lot of work!

  13. Sounds like a lot of progress in April! I can’t believe it’s already May. You’re right, it’s time to start thinking about training plans for Fall races since I haven’t even considered it yet.

  14. Hey I think a run is a run even if it’s a bit shorter. Great job on getting yours in for April! I need to work on returning to morning runs as well, I’m glad to hear you conquered yours.
Here’s to moving forward with May. May for me will be slower in the race department, honestly, how can it not be April brought 3 half’s an 1 5k, I’m happy to report I’m still alive. 🙂

  15. Time is FLYING for sure!!! I mean it is May al ready!!! How is that possible right!!!

April was ok for me. My blogging suffered due to some crazy other commitments and I missed it for sure.
Workout wise, I started a new workout program and having a have time transistioning but I see the light at the end f the tunnel.
May will start pre triathlon training…eeeek! Gotta find a bike soon-lol!!

Good job in April. I tried food journaling and stopped because I kept getting mad at myself when I saw what I was eating. I am my worse critic for sure.

Good luck in May….20 weeks until September ….that is about the same time for my triathlon….eeeek!!

  16. Glad that overall, things went well in April! For me, the month flew by so fast and I didn’t run nearly as much as I should have. I still need to figure out how many more RNR races I’ll be able to do, seems impossible to be able to squeeze it all in!
