Happy Friday! For this week’s Fit Five Friday I’m linking up with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date. So let’s chat.
Five Things Over April Coffee
Over coffee, I would tell you that this weekend we’re celebrating Ryker’s Gotcha Day! Hard to believe he’s been with us a year already. At his recent vet appointment he weighed in at a solid 88 pounds, and he’s not done growing yet!
Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m kinda obsessed with the Waterllama app. I installed it on my phone a couple of months ago and do feel like it’s helped me to get a better handle on how much (or how little!) I’ve been hydrating. I really like that you can easily log water, coffee, tea, wine, etc. and then the app calculates hydration levels for different beverages so you have a more accurate picture of your hydration beyond just tracking water alone.
And speaking of obsessions, over coffee, I would share that my current snack obsession is Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate-covered Pistachios – they are ridiculously addictive!
Over coffee, I would tell you I’m currently part of a wear test for a running shoe brand. It’s been an interesting process – the test runs about 6 weeks and there are detailed surveys to complete along the way, but there’s to be no discussion of the product and no photos on social media. So different from your typical product review! I’ll be curious to see what comes of all of this at the end and perhaps I’ll get to share more in a future post.
And while we’re on the topic of running shoes, over coffee I would share how bummed I was to learn that one of my favorite local running stores is closing its door at the end of the month as the owner wants to move on to do other things. The entire store is now 30% off so it seems like the perfect time to pick up a pair (or two) of my current favorite shoes, don’t ya think?
What would you tell me over coffee? Any snacking faves? Do you buy multiple pairs of the same running shoe?

Oh, those pistachios look dangerously delicious!
The shoe testing sounds intriguing. Hopefully you can tell us more when it’s over. In the meantime you definitely need to take advantage of that sale. I’d stock up on socks too!
ooo good call on the socks!
Have fun with your run testing-look forward to hearing your thoughts. Those pistachios do look very tasty!
They are so addictive!
Trader Joe’s has so many delicious snacks and those look amazing!
That really interesting about the testing process for those shoes. It will be interesting to learn what people think. What a bummer that your local running shoe store is closing, but yes, you really should take advantage of the sale!
The wear-test questions have been interesting. I look forward to seeing how the final model turns out.
Aww, yay for Ryker! I can’t believe it’s already been a year!
Those chocolate-covered pistachios look so good — Trader Joe’s has awesome snacks!
So sorry to hear that about your local running store. :[ I do end up getting my favorites — usually not at the same time, but in this case, if I were in your shoes (haha), I would!!
I always find something to love at Trader Joe’s LOL
Online shopping has taken over.
Trader Joe products are addicting and often not healthy. lol
What brand are you testing?
Sadly I think you’re right about online shopping. Such a bummer to see another local shop go down 🙁
Happy Gotcha Day! I can’t believe it’s been a whole year already! I’ve been eyeing those pistachios but have resisted so far. I’m sure I’d love them. Bummer about the store closing, but yes! Stockpile!
I really do need time to slow down – the year just flew by! I’m blaming my husband for buying the pistachios and now I’m hooked 😉
Oh you had me at dark chocolate! The pistachios are just a bonus crunch 🙂 Yes, sounds like an opportune time to add a few new shoes to the running closet!
Dark chocolate is pretty much my downfall!
Oh, Ryker! He really grew up! They really change a lot in that first year.
I would definitely take advantage of the store closing sale… or, if you really want to live on the edge, wait a bit and see if things become even more discounted!
It is how crazy how much they change in a year but his puppy energy is still off the charts, just in a bigger body LOL!
Happy gotcha day to Ryker! He’s just the best boy, isn’t he? Does he get along with your other dog?
Our local running store closed last year. I had stopped in there shortly before he closed. I happened to be wearing my Run Happy Team sweatshirt, and he gave me a piece of his mind about Brooks and the direction they were taking. All I could think was that the retail space had changed, and this guy didn’t change his strategy. I felt bad for him.
Thankfully Ryker and Kai get along pretty well, though I think there are times where Kai’s giving me the side-eye for bringing the puppy into his house!
Interesting about that store owner’s rant about Brooks. I think would be really hard to be a stand-alone shop in today’s market.
I’ve done those shoe tests and they are so fun! The surveys are loooong but it’s fun to see if the shoe actually hits the market or what changes they make before they do.
Happy birthday, sweet puppy!
This is my first wear test and yes the surveys are long…so detailed! I can’t wait to see how the final product turns out.
