Coffee Chat – February ’26 Edition

For this week’s Fit Five Friday I’m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. So grab a mug and let’s chat!

Coffee Chat – February ’26 Edition

Over coffee, I’d have to mention how excited I am that my beloved Patriots are back in the Super Bowl! Looking forward to Sunday’s game.

Over coffee, I’d share that I just finished reading Shonda Rhimes’ Year of Yes: 10th Anniversary Edition. It is an updated edition with some new chapters added to the original (which I read when it first came out). While I’m not sure the new chapters were necessary, but I did enjoy revisiting the book’s central message of the power of leaning in and saying yes to yourself and not letting fear shrink you.

Over coffee, I’d tell you while I was down with a cold last month that I became mildly obsessed with the Jigsaw 3D app on my iPad. I love puzzles and this was a fun way to pass some time while stretched out on my couch.

Over coffee, I’d marvel at the fact that I’m approaching the one-year anniversary for my hip surgery. Last year this time walking was painful and I was anxiously counting down the days… and now I’m celebrating almost 4 months of my return to running. What a difference a year makes!

What would you tell me over coffee?

  1. I.m so glad your hip surgery went well and is paying off! I’m sure Marcia is taking hope from your experience too!

I expected to see more Patriots hoopla in Boston this week — maybe people in Cambridge aren’t as into football. LOL

  2. Hmm! I’ve heard of that book but never read it. It does sound really good.
What a difference a year makes, for sure. It’s a great reminder that most things are TEMPORARY. Even when things seem really bad, there’s hope. So glad you’re running again!
I’m rooting for the Seahawks, but I don’t feel strongly either way. If the Patriots win I’ll be happy for all their fans!

  3. Enjoy the Superbowl! I’m still mildly heartbroken the Bears did not make it. Oh well. That sounds like a really good book. Having this stretch of time off inspires me to perhaps explore some new possibilities. Not sure what those are yet, but who knows. Happy almost hip-aversary! I’m taking the healing day by day but I sure would love to be a year out about now! I’m still so sore of course. I’ve got to be patient.

    • The Bears had such a good run! I love that you’re looking at your time off as an opportunity to explore – can’t wait to see where it leads you. I hope all goes well with your recovery – I swear being patient is the hardest part!

  4. Yay for feeling so m uch better post surgery! Getting back to doing what you love is the best. That book sounds familiar-did I read it? We are sad about our Eagles flaking out this year -good luck this weekend

  5. That’s great news that your hip has done so well post-surgery and that you’re running comfortably again!

Congrats on your Patriots making it to the Super Bowl!

  6. Darlene S. Cardillo says

    Happy anniversary. One year already?

Glad to hear that it was successful and you were able to return to running.

My stepson is a big Patriot fan. Sadly I don’t watch football. Just the halftime show.

My cold turned into bronchitis. Not fun. I read a lot.

  7. Wow! Already a year? Time flies – excited for you to feel better again.

Sorry! I’m rooting for the Seahawks – not a Pats fan! I’m excited for the half time show!

I’m a bit obsessed with a phone game at the moment, too. Which one do you play?

    • Seahawks?! OK we’ll agree to disagree LOL I am really looking forward to Bad Bunny’s halftime show!

Which phone game are you playing? The Jigsaw 3D app has me obsessed.

  8. Wow, a year already! I’m glad your recovery went well, and the return to running seems to have been a smooth transition. Go YOU!! I need to check-out that Jigsaw app! I love puzzles as well 😉

  9. You’ve come so far and I’m so proud of you!

I’m not super invested in the game, but I would prefer the Seahawks win. I guess. If I stay tuned in (and awake) after Puppy Bowl. I think after the National Championship, I didn’t have it in me to watch any more sports lol!

    • Aww thanks Jenn 🙂

I love the Puppy Bowl – a local shelter also holds a puppy bowl this weekend but I don’t think I could go see it without walking out with another dog LOL

  10. Hey Michelle! As a Bills fan it’s impossible for me to root for the Patriots, especially after this brutal season lol! But hopefully it’ll be a good game!

I’ve never read Year of Yes, but should probably add to my list. I think I need a little encouragement and motivation!

I’m so glad your recovery has gone well and you’re back to running pain-free!

    • Ah thank you Janelle!
The Bill definitely didn’t make it easy on their fans this season! It’s been great to see the Patriots winning again. We’re not favored but I hope we at least make it competitive.
If you pick up the Year of Yes, let me know what you think.

  11. I haven’t read the Year of Yes, but the overall message of the book is an important one! <3

I definitely spend a lot of time playing games on my phone when I'm sick, haha. I hope you're feeling better!!
