February Coffee Talk

Happy Friday! It’s time for another edition of Fit Five Friday!

I’m so ready for the weekend and happy to kick things off with a little catch-up over coffee with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. Grab a mug of your favorite hot beverage and let’s chat a little.

Over coffee, I would have to mention the weather. Would you believe after last weekend’s blizzard that left over 2 feet in its wake, we’re getting another storm today?! This time it will be icy rain and sleet. Thankfully, school has been canceled so there’s no need to be out on the roads.

Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m two weeks into the new job and really enjoying it. I’m definitely in that information-overload phase where you’re trying to learn “all the things” and the lingo, acronyms, etc., but it’s all good, and everyone I’ve met so far is super helpful.

And speaking of the new job, over coffee I’d tell you that I made a trip into the office last week for an in-person senior team meeting. I can’t even remember the last time I commuted to an office! It was kinda comical on just how out of practice I was trying to organize my things and make sure I was dressed professionally head-to-toe vs. just enough to pass the Zoom call test.

Over coffee, I would tell you how challenging it is to shop for a new car these days – thanks to supply chain issues, blah, blah, blah. I finally found the model I wanted at a nearby dealership and was planning to head over for a test drive, then the blizzard hit. I thought for sure this would bide me a little time, but would you believe snow and all the car sold 🙁 Back to hunting…

What would you tell me over coffee?

  1. It’s crazy how much snow you’ve gotten this year! It’s good that you get to work from home. I’m so over Zoom meetings but you’re probably used to it! I clicked out of our last one a couple of weeks ago because everyone was talking over me, lol.

  2. Ooooh hunker down and stay safe! So much snow for you guys! Relatively speaking we haven’t gotten very much, although it’s tied up the commute on a couple of occasions. Ugh. I got a new car over the summer and yes, the struggle is real!

  3. I’m so glad your new job is off to a good start! Can you believe it was 60F (and raining) when I took Scooby out this morning? And it will be back to the 20s tonight.

We are in a car conundrum as well. It’s so frustrating!

  4. I”m glad to hear the new job is going well 😉 Wow, even more snow? Fortunately, we missed a couple big snowstorms while snowbirding…the cold temps were waiting for us, though. It’s below ZERO (again) this morning…

  5. Ugh- my son “needs” to get a car this summer and I’m not looking forward to that.
Glad your new job is going well! Yes, I can see how it would be a shocker to have to get yourself to an in-person meeting. (ha ha… I’m just re-reading that last sentence… what has happened to the world?) Anyway… sounds like things are good other than the snow, sleet and icy rain. Stay safe and warm!

  6. You all have gotten so much snow this month! This week’s storms missed us totally and we just have a chilly rain. I am hoping to see the sun next week. Glad to hear your new job is off to a great start! Happy car shopping it can be annoying

  7. It has been SO long since I shopped for a new car (obviously). We replaced the battery in both cars recently (well, the hubs did) and it was hard to get a battery!

That’s great that you’re enjoying the new job so much. Definitely hard to go from WFH to in office, even if it was just that meeting.

We seem to be getting much more ice than they predicted (and much less snow).

  8. I’m glad to hear that the new job is going well! I can’t imagine going back to an office! I work from home in normal times but used to visit occasionally.

We were just talking about the car/parts shortage last night. CRAZY!

  9. I’m so happy to hear the job is going well! Information overload is definitely right, any time you start a new role…kudos for you for surviving the commute! It’s so much work, isn’t it? Ha! So many things to think about.

Stay safe during this next blizzard!

  10. Ugh, that’s a bummer about the car 🙁 i have a few friends shopping for cars now and they have all also said how frustrating the process has been. I hope you find a car that you like soon.

i had to laugh when you mentioned going into the office. I haven’t done that since March 2020 and I know I would be all out of sorts if I had to do it now, lol.

  11. Kind of hoping it’s dress weather before we’re back in the office full time. Number one, I like them more than pants and number two, so hard to look professional shoving pants into weather boots. Hope the in person meeting went well
    This weather is ridiculous

  12. Glad to hear your new job is going well. Car shopping can be so stressful. Goodluck!

  13. I don’t do Zoom for work because my job is in person and hands on or nothing. There are Zoom learning conferences but I haven’t done any because I’m sure I would get bored and zone out.
Luckily we got my car before this whole mess and I hope to keep it for a very long time. Car shopping is the worse.

  14. I thought we had it bad here but after reading your post it doesn’t seem like it. That is good news about the new job! I can imagine how weird it must have felt going into the office. When I went back to school last year it also felt weird having to dress up and look “nice” for work. Not idea why since the students were not even in the classroom. 🙂 Good luck with the car shopping!

  15. I’m so happy you are enjoying your new job!

We will be due for a new car, and I am trying to hold off. I loathe vehicle shopping on a good day, so it wouldn’t be fun. Hope you find something soon!
