Fit Five Friday – December Coffee Catch Up

It’s that time again for a little catch-up over coffee with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date. And, of course, it’s Friday so that means another Fit Five Friday link-up! So grab a mug of your fave hot beverage and let’s chat.

Fit Five Friday – December Coffee Catch Up

Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m looking forward to slowing down and embracing this time of year. 2021 was another wild ride, and while we’re far from “back to normal”, I’m all in to enjoy the holiday season as much as possible!

Over coffee, I would tell you that I am giddy at the thought that my son will be home in just two weeks for his winter break! It felt so good to have him home for Thanksgiving, but 4 days was far too short of a visit. This time he’ll be home until mid-January.

Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m excited to see the Van Gogh Immersive Experience later this month.

Over Coffee, I would tell you that while I love seeing all of the 2022 race announcements arriving in my inbox, I’m holding off on taking advantage of all of the “early bird” registration specials. I am optimistic that there will be many more in-person races next year, but given all that is happening in the world right now, I’m taking a wait-and-see approach before shelling out money for registrations.

Over Coffee, I would tell you that I’m teaming up with my brother to run the Great Wall Virtual Challenge. The Conqueror Virtual Challenge always comes up with creative medals! We thought this would be a fun way to log some miles as the winter sets in, especially since my brother has visited the Great Wall in person.

What are you looking forward to this month?

  1. I wish the Van Gogh exhibit would make it’s way towards me…I’m so jealous!!! That Great Wall challenge sounds exciting, especially doing it with your brother. Have fun! Enjoy your holiday season, Michelle 😉

  2. Excited for my boy to come home too, altho he will most likely go back and forth to his house in Wisconsin. Still, any time I get with the boys is precious!

That Great Wall challenge sounds fun! I’m still working my way back and I’m going to take advantage of my deferral from the IAT race in May.

  3. Oh yay! Have fun on the Great Wall. I can’t believe my good fortune to have this weekend with our oldest daughter as well! Have a fun weekend!

  4. Have the Great Wall.

I’m the opposite of a wait and see. Signed up for four Half’s in 2022. Yikes.

I’ve seen Van Gogh twice. I enjoyed it. Hope you do too.

  5. Yay on your son being home soon. The next time I see mine I think it will be to take him to the airport for his honeymoon ….

I’ve always been cautious about signing up for races too soon because of work, but sadly my Achilles is still nagging, so that’s holding me back too. Argh.

The Van Gogh exhibit looks cool. I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed his work until I went to the museum in Amsterdam. My art history book didn’t do it justice. 😉

  6. I am also doing one of the Conqueror challenges it is great motivation to get out for some extra steps. It is always nice to have the kids back home and I am also looking forward to spending time with mine too next week.

  7. I’m definitely all about embracing the holidays this year – decorating, watching holiday movies, etc.

I’m supposed to run a half marathon in Philly in March (originally scheduled for March 2020), but I’ll need to see how I feel a month before the race. I’m still not completely comfortable with traveling.

  8. No races on my schedule. If I were to do one, I’d rather wait & pay more later.

I love that you do challenges with your brother!

Enjoy the time with your son; I know it goes too fast.

  9. I’m right there with you! My son will be home in two weeks, for an entire month. Yay!!!
That Great Wall medal is really cool. Sounds like a fun challenge! I’m still trying to sort out my foot situation but am hoping to do some races this winter.

  10. I’m registered for 2 half’s, I ope I didn’t jump the gun.
I went to the Van Gogh exhibit in LA and I’m sorry to say I found it to be a waste of time and money. I’ve read reviews since and heard it was way better in different cities. I hope your experience is as amazing as I hoped mine would be.

  11. That is exciting about your son!! I am sure he is excited too. So far I have one race on my calendar and am looking for a marathon in a warm place (hopefully).

  12. Over coffee, I’d ask you what your brother thought of the Great Wall?! That’s my father’s dream – he has spoken about visiting it for as long as I can remember!

I’d also tell you I’m really looking forward to closing the year and enjoying family and some downtime. It’s been another crazy year.

  13. I know you will have a great time with your son back home on break! I am hopeful for a fun holiday season.

I am with you on waiting on signing up for races. It’s all just so unpredictable lately!

I hope you enjoy the Van Gogh exhibit!
