Hello August!

And just like that, it’s August 1st! What has happened to Summer?!

As I usually do, I’m setting some new goals for the month… but first, here’s a quick recap of the week that was.

Weekly Run Down – Week 30

Monday — 3-miles, Core, Full-Body Strength, and Stretch. Re-entry after a vacation can make a Monday feel extra-Monday if you know what I mean. I decided to get out for a run to get things off to a good start. It was foggy and crazy humid, but the run felt pretty good.

Tuesday — Yoga.
Wednesday — 1-mile walk, Upper Body Strength, Core, and Stretch
Thursday — 3.1 miles, Core, and Stretch
Friday — 2-mile walk, otherwise rest day
Saturday — 5.25 miles, Core, and Stretch. Hard to believe it was just 60 degrees when I headed out! With the Back on My Feet Running Festival 15K just 7 weeks away, I’ll need to start stretching out these Saturday runs.

The virtual running festival is September 18-25 with the option to run the 5K, 10K, 15K, 30K, or run all four distances during the month of September. Join me and use code BibRave5! for $5 off the registration – you can register here.

Sunday — 3-mile walk, Core, Lower Body Strength, and Stretch.

Plans for August

While I will continue to work on the summer fitness goals I posted in June,  I’ve got a couple of things I want to specifically focus on this month.

  • Matty’s Summer Crunch Challenge – Thanks to Kim for bringing this Peloton challenge to my attention! I did Matty’s enCORE challenge back in February and it was a good one, so I’m looking forward to this one.
  • Increase my “long run” to 8 miles
  • Prehab exercises 3x’s/week — gotta keep the hip on track!

How was your week? Are you training for any fall races?

In case you missed it:

  1. I actually have 2 fall races quickly approaching and I really hope they happen! getting back on track after vacation is always challenging nice job working back up to longer runs. See you for Matty’s challenge

  2. Darlene S. Cardillo says

Not sure I’m training. But I do have a half in Sept and Oct. so trying to increase my long runs.
Excited for your 15k. Sounds like you have a plan.

  3. Summer here lasts through August, so I’m holding on to another month of summer vibes! Your goals look good — I’ll be joining you for the core but not the 8 milers yet. Maybe I’ll be up to the BOMF 5K? Thanks for sharing that info.

  4. Nice week for you! isn’t the cooler weather nice?

I reached out to the RDs of both my fall races. I’ve gotten a deferral to one. Waiting to hear back from the other. Kinda sad…but it is what it is.

  5. I can’t believe how fast this summer is going…coming back from vacation is tough, no matter how long or short the trip!

I might have to check out the core challenge!

  6. I always say that I need a vacation from a vacation. 🙂 The Summer is going by fast. While I am kind of happy because I want the hot weather to end, it also means back to work. Well, in a way I am excited about that too. I cannot find Matty’s Summer Core Challenge. I do wish Peloton made it easier to find these programs.

  7. How, exactly, is it August??? As much as I’m trying to enjoy every minute I have of summer fun, it is catapulting much too fast towards the fall season. I do have some fun races comingup, but still. Looking forward to followingyour training for the Back on My Feet!

  8. I feel like summer is pretty much over when the kids go back to school. Sigh. Hooray for a break in the heat! I am loving the cooler nights and hope they stick around.

  9. I haven’t set any goals for August yet because I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that the month has started. Sounds like your hip is feeling good and running is going well! Hope you have some nice cool weather for those long runs this month.

  10. I am thinking about a 5K in september, but I’m still not sure I’m ready to People like that yet… here we are in August and I’m freezing inside and it keeps bloody raining all the time!! My kingdom for a covid-free beach holiday!!

good luck with your goals this month!

  11. When I looked at the calendar yesterday I was like oh crap, the running festival is next month! Time to start training, lol.

Love your goals for August! I’m also looking forward to the Summer Crunch Challenge. Today’s core class was a burner!

  12. No races here. And 8 miles would be long for me right now! In fact, I don’t think I’ve run more than 8 miles this year. Good luck!

    Nice goals, Kim!

  13. Good luck on your plans.
I have your same goal about the “long runs” this month.
Just yesterday my son and I made the decision to run “The Appia Run” (13 km) in Rome on 0ct. 3.
