Week 11 – Oh So Tired

It may have been a slow adjustment to the time change or the constant fire drill that my work continues to be, but I struggled to find my energy this week. “I’m so tired” was a consistent refrain playing through my head. The workouts did happen, though some were fairly low-keyed. Here’s how the week played out.

Weekly Run Down – Week 11

Monday — 30 min Peloton ride, 15 min Upper Body strength, 10 min core, and 10 min stretch. While I seriously thought about taking a pass on working out, I know how much better I feel when I get the week off on the right foot. And, the BHM Fresh Friday ride with Denis was the perfect antidote to my Monday blahs.

Tuesday — Unplanned rest day. It was ridiculously cold when my alarm went off. With no desire to run in the dark (thanks DST!) and bitter temps I pushed my workout to later…and later, for a whole host of reasons, never happened.
Wednesday — 3 miles, 10 min core, and 10 min stretch. With 50s in the forecast for the afternoon, I made sure to step away from my laptop and get out for a run. It was worth the wait!

Tired but happy runner

Thursday — 20 min ride plus 5 min cooldown ride, 20 min Full Body strength, 10 min core, and lower body stretch. This was a great stack of classes!
Friday — 3 miles. This run felt sluggish and slow – I was definitely feeling some DOMS from Thursday’s stack, but I got it done.
Saturday — 4 miles. Had to greet the first day of Spring with a run, even if multiple layers were needed. It did warm-up enough later in the day to venture into my garden to begin my spring clean-up (in other words, lots of weeding and raking).

Love seeing the return of painted rocks on my run

Sunday — I’m feeling the effects of my garden “workout” so I’m taking my sweet time to get into gear. The forecast is showing 50s later so the plan is to snag some afternoon miles along with some yoga to show my very tight hamstrings some love.

The upcoming week is a short work week for me as I have Thursday and Friday off! We’re taking a day trip to visit a college as my oldest inches closer to making a decision.

How was your week? Did you celebrate the first day of Spring with a run?

  1. Sounds like your days off this week are just what you need! Hope you have a better week ahead

  2. This was such a tiring week, and I am also partly blaming DST! It took us a good 3-4 days to adjust. Hopefully this upcoming week is a better one!

  3. Totally relate on the time change situation – it made me SO tired the first half of the week. Great job on all of your workouts – you can always count on Denis for a fun ride!

That’s awesome that you have a short week next week and I hope that the college visit goes well!

  4. The first day of Spring wasn’t very Spring like — and crazy windy too. I took a pass. Although walking Bandit wasn’t too bad.

Today was a MUCH nicer day!

I’d say how fun on your trip, but I’m not sure how fun looking at colleges is? Good luck!

  5. You did get a lot done in spite of feeling so tired! Enjoy your college visit. It’s so much fun to do those visits together, but kind of bittersweet. Anxious to hear what he decides!

  6. Hooray for days off! I’m so tired BECAUSE of my running, not a feeling I’ve had for the last year! My friend Trudie and I have decided to do a half mara in a few weeks and did 11 today but I’d accidentally run too much in the week so ended up with my most miles in a week since July 2019. Oopsie. Also zzzzzzzz. Have a good week next week!

  7. I’m a big fan of the extra daylight, but ouch this week was rough. I have a perpetual work dumpster fire going and it’s such a huge energy suck. Enjoy your time off (note to self: I need to take some time off).

  8. DST didn’t seem to hit me until Wednesday, of course my busiest day last week. I think I slept (or, at the minimum, “dozed” quite peacefully) on our flight to Florida. Happy Spring! So glad to have Winter outta here!

  9. Tiring week for sure! Darn DST…Monday I was just dragging for no apparent reason.

Exciting about deciding on a college- such a big decision!

  10. i hate turning the clocks ahead!!! It messes everything up. Sounds like you had some bright spots in your week though.
i think we talked about this- is your kid (son? daughter?) a senior this year? My son is too, and we’re waiting to hear from his first choice college- we should know this week. Gulp. A stressful time for sure!

  12. College visits are so exciting!

Enjoy your time off and I hope you have so much fun!

Garden workouts can truly be rough. Or so I hear. Gardening is not my thing. I wish I was better at it, and found more joy in it.

  13. I disagree with Judy and we live in the same area. Yesterday was a lovely day – not hot but the sunshine was plentiful and it was warm enough to eat outside after our run.

I hope work gets less stressful but I do get it…

  14. Gosh, your workouts look solid to me! I really liked Denis’s Fresh Friday BHM ride — I need to find more with that theme. Wow on the college visiting – so exciting!

  15. everyone says kids need screen breaks, I think we do too. So necessary. Glad you were able to get out Wednesday and hope work doesn’t eat your short week. Enjoy the college visits!

  16. you know, when you are tired it’s good to ease back a bit. you obviously didn’t take a rest WEEK but if you think about it, work has been taking a LOT of energy from you and at some point your body just says “hold up!” add DST to the mix and voila! Exhaustion!

here’s to a shorter week and college visits!!

  17. Oh I Can relate. The fatigue is real! I’m envious you got out in your garden. I think we’re still too frozen here to do that but I suppose some cleanup could happen…
All the best with the college visit! So exciting!

  18. Great job on your workouts. Gardening can create some seriously sore muscles. I’ve been working hard to whip my yard and beds into shape. It’s a lot of work, but so relaxing and worth it.

DST hit me hard this year, too, but I think I’ve finally adjusted a week and a half later.
