Weekly Run Down – Thankful

Happy Sunday!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. It was so nice to have this week off from work, to have my college boy home for a few days, and to spend time hanging (and eating!) with family. My heart is full and I am thankful.

As always, I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down link-up so here’s a quick look at my week in workouts.

Weekly Run Down – Thankful

Monday — Strength for Runners, Core, Peloton Low-Impact Ride & Stretch. The Strength for Runners classes have become some of my favorite classes on the Peloton app – so much single-leg work.

Tuesday — 3.3-mile run & Core. Despite the wind, this run felt really good – was it the switch to 5:1 intervals? was it the new shoes?

Trying out the Brooks Ghost

Wednesday – 2.5-mile walk & PT exercises.

Thursday — 4-mile run, Core & Stretch. Thankful to virtually trot with these ladies!

Thanks to Kim for the collage!

Friday — 1-mile walk otherwise rest. This was a super lazy hangout day, but I did get 1 mile in for Day 2 of the #FFHolidayChallenge of 30 mins of movement a day from Thanksgiving to New Year’s.

Saturday — 4.2-mile run, Core & Stretch. The wind was just rude and made this run feel really challenging.

Sunday — 3-mile walk & Yoga.

How was your week? Have you been battling the wind on your runs?

  1. We did have some windy runs this week as well. I would still rather be outside though! Glad you had a great Thanksgiving with your kids and family. it is so hard to send them back!

  2. The wind was definitely insane yesterday! I could’ve run long today, but this was my only opportunity to get in 4 runs all month so I took it. Not sorry, but also very tired after that run!

Glad you had a great week home with the fam without having to work (well, outside work, anyway) Michelle. That’s really what it’s all about!

  3. Wasn’t it great spending time with your family? I miss my college boy already too! And even though my oldest lives in the city, we don’t get to see him enough. I was in heaven spending time with both of them.

I have a pair of Brooks Ghosts too–the beer-themed ones. I actually really like running in them! Anxious to hear what you think.

  4. The wind? Say no more…it’s been my nemesis for s long time, but it’s been really fierce the past few weeks (months?). I’m curious how the new shoes compare to our trusty Adrenalines? Have you ever tried the Ravennas? They’re similar to the Adrenalines but lighter. Glad you had a nice week with family:-)

    • I actually thought of you during yesterday’s windy run. It hadn’t been that bad here yet so that run was a shocker.

I like the Ghosts. I actually think they’re very similar to the Adrenalines, minus the guide rails for stability. I think for longer runs I’d probably still go with the Adrenalines for the support. I’ve never tried the Ravennas – do they have the guide rails?

  5. Oh, new shoes! I lost track of the mileage on mine when I was dealing with my Achilles, but I probably am due for some soon-ish. The ortho had me get the copper level Superfeet, so I don’t know how much the underlying shoe even matters!

Glad you had a nice TG with your family! I imagine your oldest will be home again in a few weeks?

    • I lost track of my miles too but can start to feel that my Adrenalines are wearing down. I usually rotate 2 pairs but ran most of the summer in just once. I’ve never tried Superfeet inserts – do you think they help?

3 weeks until my son is done with the semester…not that I’m counting 🙂

  6. So glad you had a nice holiday visit with your son! I haven’t tried the Ghosts, but my sister loves them.

The Strength for Runners classes are great! Almost like a solid PT regime, but way more fun 🙂

  7. Didn’t it feel great to be off work this week?? I loved it! Glad that you had an awesome Thanksgiving!

I hope that you enjoy the new sneakers! Unfortunately the Ghost sneakers didn’t work for me (cause me some foot pain) but my mom swears by them and has several pairs.

    • This week off was truly a lifeline!

Interesting about your experience with the Ghosts. So far so good, but I’ll be curious to see how things feel after a few more runs.

  8. I’ll chime in on missing our boys! It was such a nice week, and we were super lucky to have our son home from Sat.-Sat. I’ve been fighting off sadness all day, but they’ll be home again soon for Christmas.
Glad you had a great Thanksgiving!!!

  9. Isn’t it the best having the kids all home? We’re actually heading to Atlanta this weekend for a holiday party so I’ll just “have” to drop in on Maddie! Haha! I runfess I take cover on the wooded trails when it’s super windy. Either that or cower inside. I’m going soft, what can I say?

  10. It was lovely “trotting with you” on Thanksgiving! It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend!

  11. I love the graphics/colors on your new Ghosts! I have never run in the Ghost. Is that a new model for you? What shoe did you run in before?

    • Adrenalines are my go to shoe and I have run in Glycerins in the past (this year’s model was too squishy for me). I’ve always heard great things about the Ghosts so I thought I’d give them a try.

  12. Happy Thanksgiving! So glad you had a great one!

You know, it’s been crazy windy here! I can’t stand it, and it certainly makes running harder.

I hope you love the Ghost!

  13. Love the turkey trotters! I went out for my first run since my Terrible Cold and then a few side effects from my booster, 17 days off and managed 5.5 miles! Phew!

  14. Haha! I love your description of the wind being rude! LOL! I love Brooks – congrats on the new shoes!
