Running into Thanksgiving Week

Happy Sunday!

That sound you hear is me exhaling after a very busy week. With a staycation on the horizon, I knew work this work would be extra crazy, but then throw in my youngest son home sick for a couple of days, parent-teacher zoom conferences, and life in general, and yeah I’m ready for some downtime. On the workout front, this was definitely a “do what you can, when you can” type of week, here’s how things played out.

Weekly Run Down – Running into Thanksgiving Week

Monday — Upper body strength and core courtesy of raking the never-ending collection of leaves in my yard. I woke up feeling sluggish so I opted to pass on an early morning workout. Nothing like old-school yardwork to work the arms, shoulders, and back.

Tuesday — Peloton Ride, Lower Body Strength, Core & Stretch. Robin’s live DJ ride offered a fun playlist.

Wednesday — 3.1-mile run & Stretch. Everything about this run felt hard…no particular reason why. As I posted on Instagram, some days you are the windshield, and some days you are the bug – this was a bug run.

Thursday — Rest Day. My schedule was cray cray, and I kept pushing my workout later and later, and eventually just waved the white flag.

Friday — 3-mile run, Core & Stretch. Wrapped up work early and took advantage of the mild mid-afternoon temps – this run was a nice bounceback after Wednesday’s rough run.

Saturday — 4.25-mile run, Core, and a couple of hours of yard clean-up/leaf-raking.

Sunday — 2-mile walk, Core, & Yoga. I woke up feeling every bit of yesterday’s rolling hills run and the yardwork, but a little movement always helps.

For the week ahead, I am so looking forward to having time off from work, to the college boy coming home, and to enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday with family.

What have you got planned for Thanksgiving Week?

  1. Yardwork is a good workout! Add work craziness — you did awesome, Michelle!

Enjoy your family time over Thanksgiving.

  2. I second Judy’s comment about yard work. Major core and upper-body work happens with raking! Yay for a staycation this week! I have to work through Wednesday, but that will probably be an “early-out” ordeal (fingers crossed). Enjoy your time at home with family <3

  3. Hope you have a good rest week now!

  4. I feel you on the busyness! I’m looking forward to having my youngest home, but I’m working all week except Thursday, so that kind of puts a damper on things!

    Have a great week!

  5. Definitely busy over here too! I hope you enjoy your much needed days off. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family

  6. Like you, work has been off the leash lately with no end in sight. I’m off Thursday but that’s about it. I’m SO looking forward to having Maddie home for a few days. The weekend will be consumed with my MIL’s birthday activities but what can you do. Haha!

  7. Good News on the staycation. I am working all week but running a 10k on Thanksgiving and then going to my Mil’s.

  8. Oh yes- I had a “bug” run today! Funny how those happen and then the next day you feel fine.
I’m happy for you that you have the week off and your son coming home! It’s the best! Hope you enjoy it to the fullest.

  9. Raking leaves is a real workout, with the added benefit of fresh air and sunshine, and the feeling of satisfaction that last for a least a few minutes until more leaves fall. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I hope you have a great staycation with your family. Iโ€™ve got some work issues to deal with tomorrow (I hope), work to get done on Tuesday, and pies to bake on Wednesday. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • “the feeling of satisfaction that lasts for a least a few minutes until more leaves fall” – so true! LOL! By this morning there are already sections of my yard that don’t look like we ever took a rake to them. I guess I have another workout to look forward to!

I hope you can wrap up the work issues quickly and get to your pie baking. What are you baking this year?

  10. Congrats on making it to your staycation! I hope you enjoy your week off and have a great Thanksgiving break!

  11. Yay for Thanksgiving week and kids coming home from college. When mine were away, I loved having them back for the week!

We got home from Florida last night and I’m taking this week off from work – something I never do – take time off from work and stay home! Enjoy your staycation and happy Thanksgiving!
