Runfessions for October

How are we already at the end of the month?! October went by in the blink of an eye!

Well, it’s the last Friday of the month which means it’s time to join Marcia for some Runfessions. It’s also time for another edition of Fit Five Friday hosted by DarleneRenéeJennZenaida, and me! So let’s get started!

Runfessions for October

Maybe it’s because of the recent battle with my hip flexor or maybe it’s my month-long crazy busy work schedule, but I runfess that I’m not feeling double-digit runs. I’ve been hanging out at the 8-mile mark for the past few weeks, and honestly, the thought of adding on 5+ more miles for a half marathon is leaving me feeling a little meh (both mentally and physically!).

On the other hand, I also runfess that I’m looking forward to my 10M race next weekend – yeah ok I didn’t say my runner logic makes sense.

For as much as I continue to enjoy the Peloton app, I runfess… (or is it bikefess?) that I haven’t ridden my Peloton bike once this month! I’ve been loving the cool fall weather so much and have preferred to take an extra walk on my non-running days. I am starting to miss my cycling classes and already have plans to change things up in November and into the winter.

No chance of my bike becoming a clothes rack!

There…I feel better…what are you runfessing?

  1. I feel you on that half…so much so that yeah, I DNS’d mine. But a long distance run on a trail? No problem. Makes perfect sense to this runner, lol.

I didn’t runfess it but I bought an assault bike from the gym after they were replacing them with newer models. I haven’t ridden it yet, lol. Like you, I’m saving it for winter.

  2. I just got on my bike a couple of times this past week. Before that? Nada. It’s been too nice of a fall to do cardio indoors. Glad you’re looking forward to that 10 miler!

  3. Well, I took a Sebbe sabbatical for several months (gosh, since maybe April?) and have not been on the indoor bike until just recently. I just cannot do indoor cycling when it’s so nice outdoors. That’s my cycling sense, LOL. But, it has been a nice reunion with the Peloton cycling classes since my return to “the basement.”

  4. Oh, I feel you on the long runs. I am actually just working back up to 8 milers. It used to be my base/typical weekend long run distance. We’ll see how MY hip flexor reacts.

I should runfess that I love Hannah Frankson so much I look forward to my bike days. I am having a harder time finding tread classes that excite me — maybe Alex and Camilla will change that.

  5. I have been signing up for 5ks when I should be doing long runs so I do get it.

The only way I can get them done at all if if I have company. The list of friends who will run with is getting shorter. sigh.

The weather has been great to be outdoors so I have not been on my stationary bike either. I don’t feel as guilty since I don’t pay for Peloton anymore.

Once its gets nasty, you’ll be back.

  6. 10 mile races are really my happy distance and I wish there were more of them. Ours are mostly in the spring. I go through phases of using my bike more or less. I like knowing it is there for me when I want it. I recently have gotten into Cody’s rides don’t tell Dennis

    • I do love 10M races and sadly we hardly have any in this area. The one I’m running is a new race so I’m hoping it sparks a trend.

Ha ha your Cody secret is safe with me 😉

  7. I’m pretty sure the weather will soon direct you inside to the Peloton- there’s a season for everything, right?
I can see how a 10 mile race would be appealing where a half isn’t. If you’re already running 8 comfortably, 10 isn’t that much more. Actually I wish there were a 10 mile race around here- as far as I know we just have a bunch of halfs coming up. Good luck on your race!

  8. I’m with you on enjoying every minute of fall outside before indoor activities!

10 is a nice stretch when you’re training in the 5 – 8 mile range for sure. For me, I prefer 15K or half marathon. I have a weird hang up with 10 milers – LOL

  9. I do miss riding my stationary bike, too. I usually did it before runs in my neighborhood but I haven’t been running in my neighborhood. Which isn’t a bad thing!

I can see why a 10 mile race is more exciting than a 10 mile training run! Have fun wIth it!

  10. Yep, I’ve definitely upped my walks. Even when they’re just a quick sunset stroll, they’re good for the soul. and a screen break
I feel you. I ran 9ish two weeks ago and then have been hanging out in 3-4. We love running, but sometimes it’s just not there.
Excited for your race next week

  11. I desperately want a double digit run. I just need to make it happen
