Weekly Run Down – Back to School Part 2

With this week came the end of my staycation and the return to school for my youngest son. Everything felt a little out of kilter including the weather as we teeter tottered between humidity one day and fall-like temps the next. I never really found my workout groove…here’s how the week played out.

Monday — Labor Day and the last day of my staycation. I’ve been enjoying the combo of a short run and strength work.

Tuesday — Powerwalk & Upper body & core work. As expected the first day back to work after a week off was a l-o-n-g day! I runfess I thought about just phoning it in, but knew I would feel better if I got some sort of workout in.

Wednesday — 3-mile run & core work. The humidity returned with a vengeance and this run was hard!

Thursday — Rest day – I woke up with a migraine that just never let up 🙁

Friday — Another couple of miles run plus strength training. I had heard a lot about Jess’ classes but had yet to try one so it was an all Jess workout!

Saturday — 4-mile run & core work. The weather was gloriously cool with no trace of the mid-week humidity. A house along my route had a number of painted rocks along their stone wall – I just loved seeing these words of wisdom!

Sunday — Today will be all about hanging out and enjoying some football. I will probably get a walk or short run in and some core work to keep this week’s core streak going.

I’m happy to say that my son’s return to school was relatively smooth. His school is going with a hybrid approach so he has in-person classes every other day. It will definitely take us a bit to find our new rhythm…but then again, isn’t that the story of this year?!

How was your week? Does it feel like fall where you are?

  1. Glad to hear your sons return to school went well. I’ll be interested to see how the hybrid learning plan goes. I’m hoping our high school will be able to move to one soon because this all-remote thing is soul sucking for the kids. Sorry about the migraine!

    • I’m holding my breath on this hybrid plan – so much depends on everyone doing the right things when they’re not at school. On the flip side, the thought of remote-only is daunting…it all makes me so tired!

  2. glad to hear back to school week is going well for your son. It is definitely a year that will require much more adjustment. Ugh on the migraine. Hope you have a better week!

  3. Arghh…there’s nothing worse than a migraine. This was the 2nd week of school for us and we have the same every-other-day schedule. I *think* we’ve gotten the hang of it? At least we’ve gotten the boys to school every day that they need to be there so far. It is really good to have them back in school.

  4. Glad the start of school is going well there! I bet the hybrid schedule is a little tricky. We started to have some cooler weather this weekend and its been so nice!

  5. I’m glad you son has some in-person school—I think that bit of normal can be a big help. There’s got to be a pun lurking in the concept of phoning it in when you’re working from home. Like, haven’t we all just been phoning it in for the past 6 months? Some days it feels that way. 😉

  6. I’m glad to hear that things have gone well with school so far. I’ve see more than my share of patients (and parents) who are struggling. Tough times for sure!

  7. 2020 has been a tough year to have any kind of rhythm LOL Glad your son had a smooth transition with his back-to-school routine. We had a rather nasty taste of “late fall” weather last week, but summer has returned for this coming week. You know I’m doing a happy dance over that 😉

    • You know I was loving the brief taste of fall we got! Unfortunately…for me 😉 summer isn’t ready to leave the party yet. It’s supposed to warm up again this week.

  8. 2020 has been a tough year to have any kind of rhythm LOL Glad your son had a smooth transition with his back-to-school routine. We had a rather nasty taste of “late fall” weather last week, but summer has returned for this coming week. You know I’m doing a happy dance over that 😉

  9. I’m glad that your son’s first week back was a success. A lot of the schools here are either doing hybrid or all in-person. I will say it feels odd seeing school buses out on the roads again, lol.

Hope that you have a good week!

  10. It definitely feels like fall here — mornings, anyway. Especially with leaves changing, LOL!

That’s great that your son’s back to school is going smoothly — I know a lot are struggling.

  11. Glad the hybrid model is working so far, definitely an adjustment I’m sure! Sorry about the migraine…glad it was short-lived! Love the idea of a core streak…

  12. It was an exceptionally long week over here, in spite of (or maybe because of) the holiday. You did great. It continues to be hot, muggy, and stormy over here, and I am just waiting for the first hints of fall.

  13. Glad to hear your son’s back to school has gone OK and well done on a decent week still. Love those painted rocks. It’s gone back to summer termps here but at least it gets dark a bit earlier so it doesn’t stay hot at night. A bit odd though!

  14. This is my 3rd week of school and I would like a hybrid approach. It is hard for the students and for the teachers as well. I am glad it is going well for your son.

This past week we had cooler weather and lots of rain. Fall is here.

  15. Sorry you had a migraine! I’ve had my share of those so know how bad they can get! I love that painted rock – a beautiful quote.
