Last Runfessions of 2019

Happy Friday!

In just a few short days 2019 is a wrap! Before we usher in a new decade, a quick trip to the runfessional is in order. Thanks to Marcia for giving us all a chance to cleanse our souls/soles – let’s get started, shall we?

December Runfessions

I runfess that one of the unexpected “side effects” of my Orangetheory workouts may be that I’m learning to embrace the treadmill just a bit. Every OTF workout has a treadmill block, and dare I say I don’t mind those blocks at all! I’m not ready for a long run, but I consider this progress.

Sometimes it’s hard to imagine that I ran a marathon this year given that my “long-run” now is just 6 miles. I runfess that right now I have absolutely no desire to “run all the miles” and I’m perfectly ok with that!

I runfess that part of the reason why I’m content with keeping my running low-keyed at the moment is that I’m just a little obsessed with OTF! I love the way I feel after class!

Do you find you need a break from running? What are you runfessing?

  1. I know. I ran 4 and it felt long. How did I run 26.2?

  2. I runfess a 5k feels plenty long to me after running Tokyo and London earlier this year. It’s crazy but sometimes a total gear shift is just what you need. So glad you’re loving OTF! I don’t know anyone who doesn’t!

  3. I think you are really smart to mix it up with OTF and stick to shorter runs. Will most likely keep you injury free. You really put a lot of pressure on your body last year and it will be a nice break of sorts. Plus the best exercise is the one you love to do right?

  4. You already know I was nodding my head in agreement while reading this post, lol. OTF has been a game changer for me this year and it gave me that “spark” again – I love it!

  5. I will say, the more marathons I do, the longer they feel. I’m really starting to like the shorter distance races.

  6. While I never feel like I need a break from running, I love the way I feel when I get out of 9Round. It’s probably similar to your OTF high. I miss those days for sure!

  7. Everyone seems obssessed with OTF! Just too many $$ for me. Even though it’s pretty close.

I obviously will embrace the mill for short runs. And right now I’m keeping my long runs at 7 miles and only running 3 x week. Life happens! Ever doing an 18 mile race seems like a dream!

  8. It’s how I feel after bootcamp or crossfit! Isn’t it great?

  9. I’m so glad you’re loving Orangetheory. Now you understand why I love it so much! The TM blocks are my favorite because I love the intervals. I think it’s ruined me for longer TM runs though!

Did I see that you won your ‘mill?

  10. I really need to give Orange Theory a try! Also, I hear you about the treadmill, it is a love-hate relationship!!

  11. I’ve never tried OrangeTheory but they definitely sound like awesome workouts! I’ve heard only good things from everyone! (Anything that can make the treadmill less boring is a win! 😮 )

  12. All of my friends who do Orange Theory love it! It’s good to break things up. Your body is probably thanking you for taking a break from the super long runs.

    Happy New Year!

  13. I’m like you with the treadmill. Although I have not done any OTF, I don’t mind doing “workouts” on the ‘mill. I just detest “running” on it LOL

  14. OTF sounds so intriguing, everyone I know that goes seems to really love it! The treadmill is definitely one of those love-to-hate pieces of equipment! I guess you can say I’m on a break from running right now…I definitely miss it, but I’ll be back in 2020!!
