A Couple of Runfessions for August

I swear August was a whirlwind – the days blew by and here we are in the final days of summer. Marcia has once again opened the runfessional so for this week’s Fit Five Friday, I’ve got a couple of runfessions to share. Let’s get to it!

A Couple of Runfessions for August

I was on vacation earlier this month and I runfess that I purposely left my running shoes at home. I knew my family had a full itinerary planned and I had no doubt that I would be logging lots of walking miles. While packing I did wonder for half a sec if I should just throw some run gear in the bag, but in the end I didn’t. We had a great time and I runfess I didn’t miss running.

That being said, while I feel like I’ve been on a good roll with my running and walking miles…I runfess what has taken a hit has been my strength training. Given that we have a home gym, I really have no excuse. After a 3 week slide, I’m back to embracing the weights.

So tell me, any runfessions to share. Do you always pack your run gear on vacation?

  1. Well- I do pack my run gear when I go on vacation. But I also don’t think a short break will hurt anything, especially since you were very active.
Nice job getting back to the weights- its so easy to get out of a good habit, and can be really hard to get back into it. Of course I’m always motivated (by fear) to keep up with strength, since my body will apparently crumble to pieces without it.

  2. I ran on vacation for years and years and I still think about how I used to get up early and knock out a run. Not so much anymore, sorry not sorry. I’ve been great with strength all summer but my bike has sat idle. If it’s not one thing, its another, right?

  3. I always pack my fitness gear, and usually find opportunities to use it. But, I try to not let that dictate my vacation activities. The fact that you didn’t miss running says it all 🙂 You kept plenty busy!

  4. I always pack my running gear as it’s my alone time on vacation and I like to check out running routes. That said, I don’t feel bad if I don’t run b/c we always walk a ton on trips, too!

  5. Darlene Cardillo says

Yes, I always try to run on vacations but most of mine involve a race…

I see from IG that you are back on track… my gym attendance has slacked during the summer..

  6. I used to always pack running gear, but lately I’ve been more realistic. 😉
It’s much easier for me to get out for a run on a work trip than vacation.
Glad you had such a great time.
