March Coffee Date

Happy March ~ Happy Friday!

It’s time for another edition of Fit Five Friday! We’re also rolling into the first weekend of the month which means Coco and Deborah are hosting the Ultimate Coffee Date. So grab a mug of your fave beverage and let’s chat a bit.

Coffee Date ~ March 2026

Over coffee I would tell you, I’ve launched a 31-day movement challenge for the month of March. After seeing my motivation ebb and flow over the last couple of weeks (thanks in no small part to the weather), I wanted to kick things into gear and regain some consistency.

Over coffee I would tell you that we’re thinking of taking on another renovation project. When we did our major remodel back in 2024, there were sections of the house we left intact so we could live here while under construction. Now one of those areas which includes the first floor bath, is due for a much-needed refresh! The big question of the day is whether we’re going to go the DIY route or call our contractor.

What would you tell me over coffee? Are you a do-it-yourself-er?

  1. Hahahaha… I like that version of the Serenity Prayer. We have tried to DIY things in the past… with mixed results. I should print this out and present it to my husband.
Good luck with the movement challenge! March is a great month to do it.

    • My husband is big on DIY (and truthfully is pretty handy) but I always have to remind him that he has very little free time – don’t want the bath under construction forever LOL

  2. I am all for small little jobs in the house but aI am not a DIY person at all. It’s just not in my DNA. I painted a powder room a few years back and I would not do that again loll. I’m always for a movement challenge. Something small like a daily core is always a good pace to start

  3. My husband is very handy around the house but we wouldn’t tackle a bathroom reno. My daughter has been doing a lot of projects to fix up her house and has learned to do drywall, tile and more.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

  4. Your 31-day movement challenge is a great idea! I just created a cardio challenge for my cycling friends.

Which way are you leaning for the bathroom remodel: DIY or calling a contractor? We’re considering remodeling two of the guest bathrooms and I keep putting it off. I think we’re too old to tackle another DIY. LOL

    • I would definitely prefer to call the contractor we used for our larger reno. My husband’s very handy but I’m afraid the project will take much longer if we try to fit it in around his schedule.

  5. A movement challenge sounds great!
All the best with whatever you decide on the reno. We did a “partial” reno of the master bath at least 10 years ago and it was a contractor nightmare. AND it was only a tile refresh and some work in the shower. NOW I’d love a whole reno of that same space but I’m so nervous to even try to find a contractor, since most of them either suck or are $$$$$.
Then, since this is NOT our forever house, we consider leaving it as is and moving….eventually. Ugh!

    • The search for a decent contractor is not for the faint of heart! I want to call the GC we used for our reno a couple of years ago but if he’s not available any time soon I’m not sure what we’ll do.

  6. ooh interested in your challenge! will you be expanding on it?

bathroom remodel – that’d be a giant cup of nope for me. Defo would be letting the pros in for that! but you know it really depends on what you want and how much you really can do. Ron and I have luckily always agreed that demo’ing is one thing but plumbing and tiling is something entirely different and neither one of us are very good at that. Thankfully we had the same guy and his team do our bathroom and our upstairs WC (I think you call this a half-bath in the states) AND do all the plumbing and prepping te walls in our kitchen we we had that redone.

    • For the challenge I’m keeping it pretty flexible – the goal is just get some decent movement every day (workouts were hit or miss in Feb).

For the remodel I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the GC we used before will be available – plumbing intimidates me!

  7. ooooh! Exciting about your challenge!

I do small projects on my own. I can paint, hang things, etc. But I’m not shy about calling in the pros for bigger projects. I do not mess with electricity or plumbing, and I prefer to stay away from tile.
