For the Love of Running

Happy Friday! This week the Fit Five Friday crew is inviting you to share what you love about running – of course, you can join the link-up with any fitness-related post you have …but with Valentine’s Day just a few days away, how could we not talk about our love of running!

A relationship with running definitely can have its highs and lows – at any time your answer to the question “What do you love about running?” can be different. Right now, here are five things I love about running.

Five Things I Love About Running

Running…
… gives me the time and space to sort through “all the things.” There’s a reason I call it my road therapy.

… shows me that I am often stronger than I think I am.

… connects me. I have connected with so many great folks from all over through this healthy obsession.

… reminds me to give myself grace and celebrate the small wins. Coming back from injuries is hard y’all!

… helps me to appreciate and enjoy the process vs. just focusing on the final destination.

What do you love about running?

  1. This week reminding myself it is a process definitely rings true. That and giving myself grace. I didn’t do as much as I’d have liked to this week, but I did something and I’m happy with myself for that.

  2. Yes to all of these! There’s so much to love about running. I especially like the point about enjoying the process. The final destination is unknown, but we can focus on appreciating the day to day training.

  3. All these things. It’s humbling, but it definitely shows you that you can do hard things.

  4. Running we love it most days! It Running teaches me something everyday and every race. Always keeps me coming back for more

  5. I love that you mentioned celebrate small wins. And how important the process.

  6. Yes – enjoying the journey, friends and experiences. And of course realizing that you’re tougher than you think!

  7. totally agree! and one thing I thought about. why I love running, is that BECAUSE of my achievements, whenever I’m presented with a non-running situation I just remind myself that I have trained for and ran marathons. If I can run a marathon, I can get through anything. That’s one big reason to love running.
