Catching Up Over July Coffee

How is it possible that it’s already July?!

I’m kicking off the new month with a little catch-up over coffee, joining Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date.  It’s also time for another edition of Fit Five Friday so let’s make it a two-fer and chat! (This post contains affiliate links).

Catching up over July Coffee

Over coffee I would tell you that now that the summer is in full swing, I am working on perfecting my margarita recipes. There are so many options from classic to spicy, straight or frozen, and every possible fruit in between! While I do enjoy a nice sipping tequila, margaritas, in my opinion, are the perfect summer cocktail.

Over coffee I would tell you that thanks to all the time I’m spending in traffic commuting to and from work, I am learning to embrace audio books. I recently finished Deena Kastor’s “Let Your Mind Run” and “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I enjoyed both books – I think Reid’s book especially would make a great summer beach read!

And, speaking of books, over coffee I would tell you that I am just about halfway through my professional certificate coursework. I am not going to lie, it definitely took a minute to shift into a “classroom” mindset, but I’m really enjoying it!

Over coffee, I would tell you how excited I am to have essentially half the month off from work! Our organization is closing for the week of July 4th and then my family is on vacation for a week later in the month. The timing is such that I’ll be working every other week!

Over coffee, I would tell you that for our vacation we’re looking forward to returning to some time in the mountains at Stowe. We’ve booked the same beautiful townhouse we stayed in last year, and can’t wait to spend time hiking, kayaking, and hopefully a day trip to Montreal (last year the Canadian border was closed).

What would you tell me over coffee? What’s your favorite summer cocktail?

  1. Oh, that’s nice to have all that time off from work! I have to agree, margaritas are a perfect summer drink. I tend to just go with the traditional lime concoction, but I’ve never a margarita I didn’t love 🙂

  2. I love Taylor Jenkins’ Reid’s books–I just finished her new book and it is my favorite yet!! Glad you are enjoying her.

I love a nice crisp Chardonnay in the summer. Actually in the winter too! I’m not one for cocktails anymore. Not even margaritas, lol

Enjoy all that time off! Your trip sounds wonderful!

  3. That is great about the time off! I like margaritas too, but also enjoy wine and martinis and beer. Pretty much anything with alcohol! Haha!

  4. I just finished that book. Perfect summer read.

I do love a good margarita.

That’s great to have time off. Enjoy.

  5. Oh, gosh, your vacation sounds like so much fun!

Thanks for the book rec. I’ve seen a lot about that one, but haven’t read it myself yet.

I’m not much for mixed drinks, but I do love a good margarita on the rocks!

  6. I flew through the 7 husbands’ book it was great. Have a fantastic time in Stowe it’s gorgeous up there. No margaritas for me this morning 🙂

  7. I like your summer margarita project! We gave my husband a “mixology” set for Father’s Day and he’s been making some interesting cocktails.
That Deena Kastor book is amazing, isn’t it? I haven’t read 7 Husbands but I want to- it sounds good.
Your upcoming vacation sounds amazing! I want to hear all about it!

  8. Stowe is really beautiful. We often celebrated our anniversary there when we lived in VT. Awesome that you’re getting some much-needed downtime!

Audiobooks on the way to my mom have been a life saver!

  9. I love Taylor Jenkins Reid! Evelyn Hugo is hard to beat but I enjoyed Daisy Jones and the Six and Malibu Rising, too!

Enjoy your vacay! I love Stowe and Montreal is on my bucket list!

  10. Those margs look great and I haven’t even had one since my bachelorette party ! Haha! Have so much fun in Stowe. You will love Montreal as well! I love that your company is closing down for a little summer holiday. Enjoy!

  11. I love margaritas! I bet your an awesome mixologist!

I hope you have a great vacation! I have one coming up later in the month and I honestly can’t wait to get away!

  12. did someone say “margarita”? I’ll be over at 5 *wink*

you’re half month July and holiday sound fabulous. it’s so nice to have these kinds of plans ahead of us again, right?

I need to seriously consider audio books. I was supposed to commute 2x a week but my company won’t pay for my travel because my official workplace in my contract is the city I live in. Only in November when I “officially” move will they change that. And, well, long story short there’s some promises that were not kept so I don’t feel like going twice a week right now. humph. Anyway, when I do (*if) I would love to be more engaged in reading, even if audio, than, say tiktok…

  13. Ooo, enjoy your time off! That’s awesome! I actually just came back from Stowe (bf’s friend had a wedding there) and it was gorgeous. I’ve never been to Montreal but hoping to go at some point!

  14. I love margs and guacamole. In the summer, I also love mojitos. So good.

Stowe looks so lovely! You will have a great time! And yay for all the extra time off! That’s so nice!
