Runfessions for January

It’s time for another edition of Fit Five Friday hosted by DarleneRenéeJennZenaida, and me!

And, since it’s the last Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Marcia for Runfessions. I’ve got a few things to share so let’s get to it!

Runfessions for January

The l-o-n-g-e-s-t month!
I runfess that January has felt like the month that would not end. I admit that it always feels a little long to me, coming off the holidays and all, but this year has been an especially long rough ride. Thankfully things have started to settle down this week, but still, I’m happy to put this month in the rearview mirror.

Thanks to Cari for sharing this New Yorker Cartoon

In need of a routine
Because January was so chaotic, my workouts were really all over the place – I just fit in what I could, when I could. I runfess that I really miss having my workouts planned out, and I cannot wait to get back into more of a routine.

Distracted drivers
Is it me or are distracted drivers getting worse? I have had more than my fair share of close encounters with distracted drivers lately, especially those who only look left while rolling out of side streets to make a right-hand turn. I runfess that I may have had a few choice words for some lately.

What are you runfessing?

  1. I get really frustrated with distracted (and inconsiderate) drivers. Honestly, common sense is not common when it comes to safe driving. Turn signals are “optional” in my hometown, probably because everyone seems to know where everyone else going, LOL My January seemed to fly by, due to where I was. I have a feeling February is gonna drag on….

  2. What really irks me is drivers who insist on using their phone whilst driving. Even when performing difficult turns or manoeuvres. What can be so important on that phone that is worth risking your life and those around you?!

  3. Yes. The longest and coldest month so far.

I’m a planner too. I’m getting it fine but I never know when I can run. Work. Life. Weather.

Hey at least we have more daylight hours.

  4. I was driving home from work a few weeks ago and got behind a car going really slow–I saw that the driver had her phone propped on top of her steering wheel and was scrolling! Are you kidding me? People are driving very badly lately==worse than ever.

This time of year sure drags, doesn’t it?

  5. I’m doing my best to not wish time away since I well know the whole year will fly by and I’ll sit here wondering where it went. Don’t even let me start about distracted driving. So frustrating.

  6. I think now that I’m driving less, I have even less patience with bad drivers — people not using their turn signals, going 50 in the middle of the freeway (with no traffic), stopping 3 car lengths behind the car in front of them at a light ….

I hope you find a new groove for February! .

  7. The drivers have gotten worse! It is crazy sometimes. Hope your job change allows you feel like you can have more of a schedule going forward. Stay warm!

  8. I totally agree with you that this has been the longest month ever! I had a 3 day work week for MLK week and somehow that was the longest week ever! I can’t wait to get into February, we’re almost there!

  9. The cold and the darkness (and the perpetual grey here) really make January feel long. It’s been tiring and challenging at work and, even though I hired my coach again and he has trainings planned for me, I STILL don’t always manage what’s on my schedule. But i am doing REDJanuary again this year which at least has me moving in some way every day and being cognisant about how important it is.

You’ll probably only hear me cursing at the weather ! In fact I was caught by Ron (whom I though was way ahead of me) yelling “for f**k’s sake!” when the weather turned from sun to rain to hail all within two minutes. (to be fair it was slashing me in the face and deserved to be cursed at)

Hope you get a good schedule for yourself soon!

  10. Ha ha… that year-at-a-glance cartoon is SPOT ON. I love how tiny November and December get.
Yes, sometimes it’s fun to get out of a routine, but then I end up missing it. Things usually get crazy over the holidays, but January is “get back to business” month. I guess that will be more like February for you! I’m sure it will feel good.

  11. I don’t know why January was soooo eternal. There are other months in the year!

I do hope things calm down for you. <3

  12. The drivers here are getting worse, too!

Also agree that January was long – hope you get into a new groove in Feb!

  13. Glad January is finally over! It sure seemed like a LONG month. Oh, drivers are bad here too. Many of not even paying attention and are distracted with their phone. I feel like yelling “Leave the phone alone and pay attention!!!”
