Week 2 – Let the running begin

This week marked my first runs of 2021. After taking a week plus off from running I was itching to get a little time on the road this week. The goal was to take it slow and see what my body would give me. Here’s how my workouts played out…

Weekly Run Down Week 2

Monday — 30 mins Yoga. It was a long workday with way too much time spent hunched over my laptop. This yoga class with a focus on twists was a perfect remedy.

Tuesday — 3.25-mile run plus 10 min yoga. Finally a run for 2021 and happily it was a good one. Everything felt smooth and easy and I was tempted to run further, but I know I’m better off if I take this slowly.

Wednesday — Rest day plus 10 min yoga. I realized I had gone 2 straight weeks without a rest day, but I did 10 minutes of sun salutations to keep my yoga streak going (Day 13).

Thursday — Peloton 20 min ride, 20 min Full Body Strength, and 10 min yoga. Everything felt good about this workout – it was a great way to start the day! Added bonus, I ended the day with a sports massage.

Friday — 3-mile run plus 10 min yoga. Another solid run on a cold but beautiful morning. (See the photo at the beginning of this post).

Saturday — Peloton 20 min Full Body Strength, 10 min yoga, and a Zoom ride with some blogger buddies.

This Sun Salutations class has become one of my favorites. I’ve taken it a few times now and it will probably stay in the rotation for the foreseeable future.

It was so much fun to see and chat with Coco, Darlene, Kim, Deb, Deborah, and Renée! A big thanks to Kim for organizing and photo credit to Coco 🙂

Sunday — 3.5-mile run plus 10 min yoga. The wind made everything about this run hard…but on a positive note, my hip continues to feel fine!

So tell me something about your week.

  1. So glad to read that your hip is feeling so much better! Those yoga classes really do help with maintenance. Have a great week!

  2. Nice week Kim! I could use a sports massage. I’m feeling very tight and haven’t been good about stretching. I bet it felt great!

  3. I’m so glad your running is going smoothly. Holding back when you feel good is so hard, but I know it will pay off.

It was great seeing you again!

Is your oldest son back to boarding school yet?

    • It was great seeing you too 🙂

My son is home for 2 more weeks – due back on campus at the end of the month. He’s so ready to go back, but I’m not LOL.

  4. Yay!!!! Hip hip hooray for the happy hip 🙂 I admire your commitment to daily yoga…it’s really doing great things for you. It was great seeing you and your (still un-named) bike yesterday:-)

  5. Hooray for a return to running. I need to follow your lead and do more yoga and stretching. So bummed i missed the Zoom ride!

  6. Darlene S. Cardillo says

Glad you are back to running and your hip is cooperating.

    It was fun biking together.

  7. Glad you are back to running and that your hip is feeling good! Great job keeping up with your yoga streak.

  8. Glad you had some solid workouts and felt ready to run. So good to see everyon’s workout spaces after their living spaces in early zoom

  9. So happy that your runs felt good this week! I am going to try that Twists yoga class – it looks really interesting! I’ve also been sitting way too long at my desk during the workday so I feel like I could really benefit from it!

  10. It’s great to hear that your hip is feeling better! I do enjoy sun salutations, but I’ bet they’re more interesting doing them with someone talking you through them. It was great to see you on Saturday for our virtual ride!

  12. Glad you’re getting back into things and I love the group ride! Also a sports massage – wow! None of that kind of thing over here at the moment. Fortunately I have a friend who does them who is very careful about PPE etc so once we’re allowed to, I will visit her. Great strong pics and well done on a good week!

    • Thanks Liz 🙂 I feel so lucky that my massage therapist was able to re-open a few months ago. She’s managing a very small client base and is hyper-sensitive about all of the safety protocols so I feel comfortable seeing her.

  13. A sports massage sounds wonderful! I want one too. It has been about 2 years since my last one.

  14. Not much to tell about my week, LOL!

Glad to hear running is going so well for you! Your work with Yoga is paying off. 🙂

  15. I think I need to do a yoga challenge in February. It sounds like just what the blogger ordered!

  16. sounds to me like you really did the right thing by taking a bit of a run break, focusing on other things to make your first week of running a success! That is great news!

Glad we got to ride together again too! All in all week 2 was pretty successful even with accidentally throwing myself down our stairs! LOL

  17. Yay for the return to running and that your hip is feeling good! What a fun group ride you guys had, love it!

  18. Yay for running! You’re really selling us on the yoga- sounds like it’s making your hip happy. Very smart to take time off before it got out of control- I usually run way too long when something hurts and then regret it later.
