Ready for some down time

Winter break has begun for both of my boys and I am inching ever closer to some much needed time off. It was another stressful week both workwise and on the home front. I let go of any expectations and just took the workouts as they came…here’s how the week went down.

Monday — Peloton ride and core. Emma served up a fun playlist!

Tuesday — 3-mile run. I took a break from Zoom calls to slip this run in. It was oh so cold, but the run felt great!

Wednesday — Rest day. I was already having quite the day at work when I got word my dad was headed back to the hospital. At that point, I was pretty much done.

Thursday — Strength training by way of shoveling. We got hit by over a foot of snow and even with the snowblower, there was quite a bit of shoveling to do.

Friday — Peloton ride and bodyweight strength. Both of these classes were so good!

Saturday — Peloton strength. I tried a new-to-me instructor, Ben, for legs & glutes and core classes. I found both classes to be just meh.

Sunday –– Peloton cycle and core. It was supposed to be a run day but the roads and sidewalks continue to be an icy obstacle course. I debated a treadmill run, but finally hoped on the bike and this 30-minute sweat fest was just what I needed! Denis’ rides are quickly becoming some of my favorites.

Thankfully, my dad was released on Saturday and is doing well. And, even though my workdays were oh so long this week, I wrapped up a number of projects and only have a couple of loose ends to tie-up before taking a nice long break into the new year.

Did you get snow this week? Do you have any time off planned before the year-end?

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Glad to hear the good news about your father

I got some xtraining with that shoveling. We got 30 in.

Definitely puts a kink in my running.

No time off besides Christmas and New Years.

Happy holidays to you and your family.

  4. So glad your Dad is doing well now. Denis’ holiday ride is on my list for this week. I’ve found Ben to be meh too, but I might give him one more try. I’ve got work to do this week, but hopefully next week will be pretty quiet.

  5. Great news about your dad! And also happy you let go of some expectations – I did that this week and was a happier person for it. Luckily I have off from today so I’m finally catching up on some much needed Christmas Prep!

  6. Well, I don’t work so no time off. But I do keep myself busy! Also being Jewish not a lot of pressure this time of year & I like it that way!

Glad your Dad is recovering well & you have some downtime coming up.

    You know we got #allthesnow.

  11. Glad your dad is home and fingers crossed he has no more issues. I know that kind of stress well and it’s tough. Oddly we continue to be snow-free here in the Chi. I’m just gonna go with it and be grateful!

  12. I wish I had planned on taking time off this week–there is just too much going on right now and I’m pooped! It’s almost a good thing that we are having a small holiday celebration this year. So glad to hear about your dad!

  13. I am glad your dad is doing better! I am on day 2 of Winter Break. I had a good day yesterday and am looking forward to the rest of the days. I will be heading back to work January 4th.

Happy Holidays to you and your family!

  14. Sorry about the ice! We had some on Christmas Day but it then got a little warmer again. Which I’m glad of as our boiler is broken … Hope the stress has now ebbed and you’ve had a nice peaceful Christmas (I’m so behind at the moment!)
