Hot and humid runfessions

Thank goodness it is Friday! Did anyone else feel like this was the week that would not end? Well, not only is it Friday, but it is the last Friday of the month, which means Marcia’s opened the Runfessional…and I have a couple of things to share…

July Runfessions

OK so as you can guess from the title of this post, let’s start with the obvious. I runfess that I am really not enjoying summer running this year. The heat and humidity have been in overdrive leaving my desire to get out for anything longer than a quick 3 or 4-mile run pretty much non-existent.

I runfess that I may have retreated to my treadmill for a couple of my runs recently to avoid the current heatwave.

I runfess that I am not ready to return to a gym or studio. My OrangeTheory studio opened 2 weeks ago and I opted to continue to freeze my membership until September.  As much as I love my OTF classes, I’m starting to watch the COVID numbers tick upwards again and it gives me pause.

On the flip side, I runfess that I have drunk the Peloton kool-aid! While I have been enjoying the Peloton app since the shutdown began, the current Pelothon 2020 Challenge has really helped up my Peloton enthusiasm. It’s given me a chance to check out new instructors and connect with members in the community, and I’m all in.

I runfess that I have finally convinced my husband to go with me to the local Peloton showroom tomorrow to explore getting a bike.

So tell me, what are you runfessing this month?

  1. I’ve done some treadmill runs this week too- the heat has just been crazy lately! Oh how exciting to be looking at Pelotons!

  2. I think that OTF is allowing members to freeze their accounts accounts for up to 3 months for free so no harm in keeping your account frozen longer until the numbers go down and you feel comfortable.

I’m thrilled that you are loving the Peloton so much! If you decide to get the bike, let me know so I can give you my referal code so you get $100 off your accessories 🙂 If I didn’t have a treadmill, I would look into getting the Peloton treadmill too.

  3. I knew you would love the Peloton! I do not see me going back to a gym or yoga studio anytime in the near future. Every summer the heat and humidity just crush me. The past few weeks have been crazy hot!

  4. Yes it has been hot. I run or walk 3 miles and I can do more on the weekend because I have friends to drag me along. Otherwise, I’d still be at 3.

Jealous of your impending Peleton purchase.

    Enjoy!!!

  5. How fun…getting a Peloton! Are you gonna have to arm wrestle the hubby for who gets the first ride on it? Sadly, I didn’t do the Peloton thing when they offered it for free, I’m kind of regretting that now, am but grateful I was still able to stay active and motivated. I’d imagine their community is an awesome network!

  6. Pretty sure if I get COVID, it will be from my CrossFit. As much as they are separating us and the cleaning is spot on, it’s a gym. Ugh. I have to weigh my risk vs benefit. I’m prepared to resume home workouts if I need to.

Excited for you to get your Peloton!

  7. Oh, that is so exciting! I assume it’s like going to the animal shelter “just to look” — you will just be even more convinced! I’ve gotten used to SHORT runs in this weather, but I am ready for a break after my July run streak.

  8. Ooooh so exciting about the Peloton! Peloton seems to be one of the few companies that has really thrived during this pandemic. We canceled our gym membership a month ago and it was the right choice. Numbers are ticking up here too and I wouldn’t be surprised to see us backtrack on opening up.

  9. That heatwave meme <3
