Five things over February Coffee

Well Hello, February!

Please tell me I’m not the only one who thought January went by hella fast?! As we usher in a new month it’s time for a little catch-up over coffee, so I’m joining Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date – let’s chat!

If we were having coffee, we would, of course, have to talk about this ridiculous weather. I am so tired of hearing the words “polar vortex” and there’s still so much more winter ahead.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you how much I’m looking forward to this weekend. My oldest son comes home from school for a 4-day weekend…and then there’s the matter of a little football game with my hometown team!

Over coffee back in November, I shared that I was on the quest for the “right shade” of gray paint for my bedroom.  Well, if we were having coffee, I would tell you that after painting swatch after swatch on my walls, and more trips to the paint store than I care to count, we finally settled on a color! Painting is underway and I’m loving what I see so far!

And speaking of ongoing searches, if we were having coffee, I would tell you that we’re knee-deep in vacation brochures trying to settle on a destination for a spring break getaway. Initially, we’d hoped to do another cruise, but had no luck aligning ports of call we liked with our available travel dates. So now the debate has begun, do we head to a beach? Drive the west coast? Disney/Universal Studios?

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m heading off on a field trip later this morning to have a Dexa scan, which is a full body composition scan, measuring muscle mass, body fat, and bone density. I’m looking forward to learning more.

So what would you tell me over coffee? Any vacation suggestions?

I’m also linking up with Meranda and Lacy for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness.

  1. See I actually thought that January felt like the longest month ever, lol.

I have no interest in the Super Bowl this year but I’m very excited for the Puppy Bowl!

Curious to learn all about your dexa scan – I really want to do one of these.

  2. All the talk of the weather has me very happy I am in Florida

  3. How fun for you to have a team in the Super Bowl. Our Bears always seem to find a way to eff it up. Haha! Love that grey! We’re in bedding hell right now in the Master. Just can’t find a thing and anything we do find isn’t available until May. Really?? Have fun with your son home!
We’re planning to be in the South for Spring break, taking another look at Georgia Tech. Chances look good that Thing 1 may commit to go there!

    • The Patriots have everyone in this area totally spoiled. I keep telling my boys they don’t know how lucky we have it – I remember the dark years LOL.

Yay on Georgia Tech! Huge congrats to your daughter!

  4. We did a similar BJ grey paint I love it. Enjoy the weekend with your son home. This month did just fly by!

  6. OMG January was FOREVVVVVVVERRRRRRRR!

We had to nix the bulk of our Spring Break plans, thanks to a leak in our bathroom, but that’s ok. I think we can find some cool things to do in a few hour radius and salvage things fairly well. I’m all about making the best of a less than optimal situation, so we will see what happens.

I hope your scan provides great info and that you have a wonderful weekend with your son! I’m totally not into this weekend’s football game, so hopefully the commercials will be on point.

    • Sorry about the unexpected bathroom remodel. I bet you’ll find some great things to do locally during your spring break. You always seem to have such fun activities planned!

  7. I wish there was a place closer to us that did the Dexa Scan. I’d be interested in the results.

My vote would be to drive the West Coast!

  8. I definitely felt like January went by super fast too! I’d love to see what my muscle mass/body fat percentage is right now! I think it’s definitely gone downhill–I need to go back to lifting more again!

  9. I felt like January took forever!!!! I’m sure that is because it has been literally FREEZING though, lol. Enjoy the time with your son!

  10. That gray is very pretty! Although my home is seriously in need of a makeover, the only makeovers I’m doing is on the Design Home app. Gray is a big color for me. LOL

I’m excited for you to do the Dexa Scan and I’m looking forward to hearing what you think! I loved learning about it. Just one more tool in the tool box.

Enjoy the Super Bowl! I was hoping for the Bears to be in it. Not this year. Altho they did beat the Rams, so there is that…

  11. I swear I commented earlier (at lunch time), but it’s not showing. Anyways, yay to the grey!!! I have a few different rooms painted in various shades of grey, and I love how they look!

  13. Dexa scan sounds pretty cool. We have an inBody at my gym I curious to compare that to a Dexa scan. Thanks for chatting over coffee.

  14. Dexascan sounds super interesting, I want to learn more about that!

  15. I guess we don’t have to ask who you’re cheering for. How great that your son will be home to watch with you. I always miss mine when we’re watching a big game – and he’s a Pat’s fan for some reason. 😉 I am not a person to ask for vacation ideas, but Universal sounds like a fun time.

Thanks for joining us for coffee.

  16. If you like the outdoors and hiking, I highly recommend Colorado or NorCal! Though they may be better in the summer. 🙂

  17. I’ve never had a DEXA scan done before but would be interested in finding out what my fat percentage is.
What to do for spring break? That’s a good question – if I had to choose between beach or mountains – I would opt for the mountains and and go camping! Love being surrounded by nature.

  18. I hope you enjoyed having your son home. I am never so happy as I am when all of my boys are home.

We had the interior of our entire house painted two years ago and it was so stressful committing to colors!

Hands-down I would suggest Puerto Vallarta for a family vacation. We have been going for about 12 years now and are currently planning a trip for the end of May/early June. PV is my heaven on earth!

    • While I love decorating, I agree that committing to paint colors can be stressful. We’ll be painting the exterior this spring and I’m overwhelmed with the color options!
