Over coffee, I’d tell you that October is probably my favorite month. Fall is usually in full swing at this point but Mother Nature’s still playing her own little game of bait and switch with the weather. I am looking forward to doing all the fun fall things like apple picking, hiking and leaf peeping, evening fires on the patio, and afternoon football games. October is also my anniversary month – my husband and I will be celebrating 26 years!
Over coffee, I’d tell you that my oldest son was home last weekend from school. He had an “open” weekend, which means no classes on Monday so he came home Saturday after his cross country meet. To say it was wonderful having him home would be an understatement. Seeing him so settled and at ease made dropping him off Monday night a little easier…but just a little 🙂
Over coffee, I’d tell you that I would admit that having only one child at home has taken some getting used to. On the one hand, it’s nice to have the extra one-on-one time with my youngest – on the other hand, parenting a high schooler from afar can present its own set of challenges.
Over coffee, I’d tell you that those house projects I mentioned last month over coffee are still waiting for me to get started. September was just non-stop and when I did have downtime, truthfully, all I wanted to do was veg. But I’m feeling re-inspired to freshen things up around here before the holidays come. I spent far too much time on Pinterest this past week and am planning to pick up paint samples for our home office this weekend. I also think I have convinced my husband our family room couch needs to be replaced. We’ll see how much I get accomplished over the next couple of months.
And, speaking of house projects, over coffee, I’d tell you that we had an HVAC contractor out to the house the other day to give us estimates for a new furnace/heating system and possibly central air. After hearing the estimates I seriously wonder sometimes if I picked the wrong profession! Do you think it’s too late to go back to school?!

we have so many home projects to be done but they are not getting done.. No time and definitely too expensive. I wish my hubby was more handy and we didn’t need a contractor.

I hear you on the boys coming home. I am so enjoying having my son home just for a few days. I am not sure it ever gets easier to see them take off again. It is sure different with only one at home. Enjoy! Thanks for linking up

I can’t imagine living in a house without central air! It’s absolutely unheard of in Florida. That being said, it would be nice if we had the kind of weather where we could open our windows and not suffocate from the humidity.
I usually feel like we get a straight deal with contractors. Mr PugRunner isn’t very handy, but I’m an ironworker’s granddaughter and I feel like I have a fairly solid hold on what’s reasonable and not. We had one bad contractor (like had to get an attorney involved, which I did not select), but the rest have been pretty fair and quick.

Yes – unbalanced is a good way to describe it. Takes some getting used to.
That’s great to hear your son is enjoying school away from home! That has to totally give you some peace 😉 My hubby is pretty handy, so we haven’t had to deal with too many contractors…but they are pricey!

September was a Tsunami and I am hearing a lot of people felt the same. It’s think we all have plans that often get extended when it comes to the house. People don’t stay home as much as they used too. Hope you get some time at home with your son.
Tsunami is a good way to describe September for sure! Hopefully, October will provide a little more breathing room.
LOL on that cartoon. Home contracting work is crazy. How great to see you son. I bet it’s hard to stay close from afar — especially with a boy.

Home projects can get crazy! Luckily we have been able to do most things ourselves.
Okay, what is leaf peeping? We did one fall activity, the corn maze, but it still doesn’t feel like fall yet.
We had the HVAC people here this week and thankfully ours was under warranty, but we will have to pay the huge labor bill!
Leaf peeping is going to see the fall foliage – I love how beautiful the trees are at this time of year!
Ugh…definteily been taken for a ride by contractors! I agree with you…I just love October, especially for running and Fall Baking!!

Aww, happy anniversary month! :]! Open weekends sound so nice! I never had that ever while I was in college, but it was mostly self-induced because I was trying to do wayy too many things, haha.
I’m definitely looking forward to lots of fall activities too! :]

Fall is my favorite time of year, and October also is my favorite month! It also happens to be my birthday month (and my youngest son’s, who was born on my 35th birthday), as well as my wedding anniversary month!
My oldest two boys are out of the house, and my youngest is a senior in college, so he will be gone soon, too. I’m never so happy as when they are all home and we are all together!
I bet having them all at home together is special!
