June Coffee Date

It’s the first Saturday of the month, so of course, that means it’s time for catching up over coffee! Thanks to Coco and Deborah for hosting the Ultimate Coffee Date link-up.  Grab a mug (or an iced coffee) and join me!

If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that I’m really looking forward to having no training plan this month – to just roll out of bed and run without trying to hold to a schedule. I’ll be curious to see how many miles I log when left to my own devices.

If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that I’ve been hard at work on my garden and it’s starting to come together nicely. What’s blowing my mind is after working all last weekend and parts of this week on the garden, I can’t believe I still have a pretty significant pile of mulch in my driveway!

If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that I’m so happy my oldest son decided to not go to overnight camp for the full 7-week session. He’s only going for the second session so he can go to a technology program at one of the local colleges. After two summers of him being away for the bulk of the summer, I’m looking forward to having him around 🙂

If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that I cannot believe that my “baby” is just days aways from graduating elementary school and will be a middle schooler! Seriously where has the time gone?

And, of course, I’d have to share a photo of my ever-growing puppy who’s now 4 months old!

What would you tell me over coffee?

  1. Awww, your puppy is so cute!!!

I like being off a training schedule too. Although I am loosely training for RnR Chicago. You know how I train for a half tho. I use the word “train” loosely!

    • Thanks, Wendy – he’s getting so big! That’s great that you’re going to do RnR Chicago. The RnR races are always such a good time!

  2. I’ll admit that I am anxious to be off of a training schedule myself! Especially for the “dog days of summer”!

Yes, time sure does fly by when we’re raising kids! My “baby” will be going into the 11th grade…really makes me sad when I allow myself to think about it.

    Enjoy your summer Michelle!

    • I know what you mean – on some of these uber hot days it would just be too easy to take a pass on running. I don’t think I’ll be off a plan for too long!

  3. So we have the opposite over here, my 17 year old is going to overnight camp as a CIT for 7 weeks. He usually only goes for 4 it will be so odd not to have him here all summer. Thankfully my daughter is home this summer so I guess I will be spoiling her. Cute puppy 🙂 Thanks for linking up for coffee today!

    • It’s great that your daughter will be around. It definitely took some getting use to not having my son around for 7 weeks – on the one hand time flies, but on the other hand, it felt like forever. Hope he has fun!

  4. I love seeing everyone’s garden/garden plans in early summer! My job makes it tough to have and upkeep a garden, so I get to live vicariously through people’s social media gardening posts.

  5. Aw, how sweet that you want your son home. I think the longest mine did at one time was a week of lacrosse camp! While I don’t have a training plan, I need a workout in mind otherwise I don’t roll out of bed quickly enough as I decide what to do!

  6. Well, this has me missing the days of my kids all being home and little. The youngest is now officially a senior at the high school. I swear, it was just last week we were frantically searching the house for her missing stuffed dog, Bonesy. ((sigh))

  7. Wow! Look at that puppy! He is growing up fast! I am curious how you do with no plan too- I am afraid I would get lazy and log about 5 miles! Enjoy! 🙂

  8. What a sweet looking puppy! I enjoyed iced coffee for this month’s coffee date, too. 🙂 I made it at home and it was delicious. If you like cinnamon, you should definitely check it out.

Enjoy your month off from training! Enjoy all the miles. 🙂

  9. Time goes by so fast! I’m not on a training schedule right now either, which is good/bad–I feel like I function better when I have an actual plan, so I might be putting one together again soon, hehe.

    I want a garden someday! *-*

  10. Kids grow up so fast! I’d tell you that I’m looking forward to our two weeks at the Cape with them. Enjoy your free running!
