Thursday Thoughts v10

As much as I am happy to be able to run again, I have to admit my motivation has been a mixed bag. Getting over the mental hurdle of accepting how slow this process is going to be leaves me wanting to just stay in bed some mornings.

A little reminder I have taped to my mirror

I’m thinking it’s time to set some goals. While I do have one late spring race on the calendar already, I haven’t really thought about my goals for the new year – highly unusual for this Type-A gal! Time to get quiet and think about where I want to be by this time next year….

I am really ready to get rid of our land-line phone. The spam calls are just out of control – despite being on a “Do not call” list. Based on the recent calls, I’ve won several trips from contests entered at “the mall,” need solar panels, am on “final notice” from the IRS, and have a problem with my Windows software. Seriously?!

Do you get a lot of crazy calls? Have you figured out your 2016 goals yet?

  1. I’m lucky not to receive any spam calls because I set my number to private when I was having my phone line installed, but I’m seriously thinking about getting rid of my land line since I almost never use it anyways. I’ve definitely gotten some of those “free trip” calls, though. If only…

  2. Our land line is gone as of 12/26. We finally pulled the plug on it. The spammy calls are out of control. I get a guy saying failure to call him back is “a federal offense and we’ll need to go before a grand jury”. First he was Steve Martin and this week he’s James Dean. Shaking head. Here’s to an awesome 2016!

    • Good for you! My husband’s been dragging his feet, but I see no point in keep the land line. I especially want to get rid of it before the robo calls for the election start next year!

  3. I hear you! My mojo is missing this week!!

  4. We have Caller ID that and just don’t answer the phone if we don’t know the number. The Windows scams are the worst because they want your IP address to do real harm – I kept the guy on the line once to see how far he’d go before I called him out for being a scammer. As for running, it is hard to be motivated for shorter runs – especially this time of year, but they will pay off to long runs.

    • We have the caller ID too, but it’s the incessant ringing that is starting to make me crazy. I had a friend who got the one of those Windows calls and pretended that the problem was with his house windows – drove the scammer crazy and he finally gave up and hung up on my friend – priceless!
