Runfessions – February Edition

I know February is a short month but can you believe it’s the end of the month already! I’m linking up with Marcia again for another edition of Runfessions. Join us!

Runfession #1 — We’ve reached 100 inches of snow and my running mojo is buried somewhere under it.

Runfession #2 — I am actually toying with the idea of a run streak challenge in March just to keep my interest and focus. The thought of a run streak usually goes against my belief that my 48-year-old legs need a day off … but I’m also feeling the need to seriously shake things up.

Runfession #3 — On the flip side, my new found love of strength training continues to grow. The beauty of belonging to a new gym is that both the weights and TRX areas are often empty.

Runfession #4 — I’m also lovin’ working with Trainer Stacy. Having a plan to follow, much like with running, really makes all the difference for me — really no surprise there. I had another great workout with her this morning that I’m sure my legs will let me hear about the rest of the day!

Runfession #5 — The downside of the new gym? No “gym crazies!”  From time to time, I’ve shared my encounters with the more interesting characters at my gym. But, with this new gym, I’m not sure if it’s the times of day I’ve been going or that the crazies haven’t joined yet, but so far it’s all been very “normal” and I must admit I kind of miss the occasional crazy just to keep the people watching interesting. And, yes I realize I’ve probably just jinxed myself!

I’m also linking up with Courtney, Mar & Cynthia for their Friday link-up. It’s a “Free Friday” this week so be sure to stop and check out what everyone’s talking about!

So tell me, what’s your Runfession? Have you ever tried a run streak?

  1. Ha, ha–they are certain to show up now! But how nice to have a quiet gym, I think. Once I get back from this marathon I am going to turn some attention to strength work, too. I need to shake things up again.

    100 inches = insanity!

  2. i think it’s totally understandable that you aren’t motivated to run – you’ve been buried in snow! maybe do the streak but give yourself one rest / easy day a week? just be smart!! have a great weekend!

  3. Oh, gosh, Michelle; I don’t know how y’all are coping with the weather; it’s been rough! Thankfully, we haven’t had too many days that have kept us from being outside (if you don’t mind the cold), so I can’t really complain. I think the strangest part about it for me is that we’re usually on the downside of this by now, not just starting winter – ha! Your new gym looks AWESOME! Good luck with the streak, if you decide to go ahead with it; I have a hard time with those because, like you, I would really prefer to give my legs a total break one day a week. Hope you have a great weekend!

  4. You guys have been hammered weather-wise this year. But on the flipside, you’ll have bragging rights forever. I can hear the war stories now.
Enjoy your empty gym. The crazies at mine are always there close to lunch-time. Earlier is better! Thanks for linking up!

  5. Challenges always motivate me, so I can see how the run streak will be motivating. Good luck!

My runfession: getting too comfortable on the treadmill without having to bundle up under a ton of layers! eek!

  6. I’m not sure how long I could streak (over that 50 hill already). I could get up and dressed to go run a mile, but that seems like a lot of effort for a few minutes. Maybe I could run in my PJs? Ha.

  7. I’m all about the strength training! But I don’t belong to a gym. I go to work with a CrossFit coach once a week. I couldn’t handle the gym. This is the best money I’ve ever spent.

  8. I haven’t tried TRX! On my list for sure!
I tried a 30 day run streak once just because I need a kick in the pants. I lasted 15 days and then I had to take a day off!! 🙂
    Have a great weekend!

  10. I have never done a run streak because I know I would never complete it. My boys can be so random that it wouldn’t happen. If I had a treadmill at home…maybe….

  11. I’ve never done a run streak. I just don’t think I’d like the pressure of running every day. And I don’t think my body would like it too much, either LOL.

  12. LOL, I bet you did jinx yourself on the gym, but that gym looks really nice! My runfession is that I took a week off running to go skiing and didn’t miss it one bit! 😉
