Transitioning to Training

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! Mine was spent eating a lot of great food, lazing on the deck and enjoying some great family time – even got some family runs in ๐Ÿ™‚

change ahead

But now it’s Monday…and time for me to start to make the transition towards training.

Time to start being more mindful of my eating…to building up my cardio…to getting more sleep…to wrapping my head around being on a training plan again.

I ran a mile trial this weekend to benchmark where I am…and oh my, let’s just say there’s work to be done! But that’s OK. There’s still a couple of weeks before Coach Bennett sends me my Philly training plan and I know I will be ready to take on whatever he sends my way (someone please reminds in a few weeks that I said that, ok!)

Let the transition begin!

Have you started your fall training yet?

  1. How exciting Michelle! Do not panic if you are not where you need to be yet….you wouldn’t want to be, but now you have a starting point which is great! I am right there with you, now starts the build; doing the little things to make sure I am ready for Chicago….but you have a few more weeks on me ๐Ÿ™‚ Excited to see how it goes!

  2. Since my longest fall race is a 10 miler and I’m still doing 10 mile long runs once in a while, I am just in a holding pattern – trying to do strength workouts to keep injury-free (knock-on-wood)!

I am in the same place, transitioning towards training and cleaning up my diet. Looking forward to following your journey.

  10. I’m so excited for you Michelle. Don’t push too much though. You don’t want to injure yourself. I’m now shifting from marathon to ultras. I pushed myself too hard and now I injured my left knee. I’m still waiting for the results of my MRI. I hope it’s not serious.
