Let’s grab coffee together!

This morning I’m happy to be linking up with Jill, Nikki and Lynda for the first monthly Ultimate Coffee Date!

coffeedate

I have always enjoyed reading virtual coffee date posts – they’re a fun way to connect and share with others.  Who doesn’t enjoy catching up with friends over coffee or tea? (Okay, wine works too but it’s a little early in the day for that!) So pull up a mug and join me….

If we were having coffee together I would tell you that this morning’s recovery run did not go well. I feel like my running continues to be up and down and all over the place – the inconsistency is frustrating!

If we were having coffee together I would tell you that while I’m thrilled that spring is finally here, I feel a little panicked every time I look at our family’s calendar. There’s very little white space happening!

If we were having coffee together I would tell you that I just booked our family vacation for June, which makes looking at our crazy calendar a little easier 🙂

If we were having coffee together I would tell you that parenting a middle schooler is really hard some days.

If we were having coffee together I would tell you that I haven’t read a good book in ages and ask you for some suggestions.

If we were having coffee together I would tell you that I’ve fallen off the meditation bandwagon and can tell I need to climb back on. I feel so much more centered and present when I practice meditation – helps to keep my Type A personality a bit more mellowed.

If we were having coffee together I would tell you how much I’m looking forward to getting together with friends for dinner tonight. We always have such a good time  – there will be a lot of laughter…and probably a lot of wine 😉

If we were having coffee together, what would you tell me?

  1. Michelle, I can’t even shut my head off enough to meditate EVER! LOL I am honestly saying that I have not cracked open a book in a long time {magazines don’t count}. I love booking our summer vacations early, and then crossing the days off the calendar until we go 🙂 Thanks for having coffee today

  2. I would tell you that my dad is ready to retire and thinking about relocating to Georgia but I don’t want him to leave New Jersey to go there because that takes him further away from me in Maryland. Selfish I know.

  3. I just love reading all of these coffee date posts! Don’t worry I am in need of a good vacation and some meditation too! I would tell you that I am so ready for some nice non-rainy spring weather here in NY and I’m so ready to stop wearing jackets all the time!

  4. I would tell you to read Once a Runner or Running Like a Girl when you get a chance – both really good books!

  5. Oh, where are you going on vacation? I need to get my summer figured out, but I am sort of waiting on my kids’ plans. You should check out my book review posts. The Invention Of Wings was really good.

  6. How fun to have a vacation to look forward to! We just got back from Florida last week and I miss everything. It was fun to plan excursions and just get out and explore some place new. Have fun!!

  7. If we had coffee, I’d say I need a vacation asap. I don’t think I can wait till summer. And then I’d ask for tips on meditation. I want to get into it so bad but my brain just does not shut off!

    • When I started meditating I found it easier if I started with small blocks of time – like a minute or two, find some place quiet and just focus on your breath. And be gentle with yourself – definitely takes time!

  8. Came here from the coffee date linkup …

I have TWO in middle school (and one in high school and two in elementary school) … every age has it’s challenges, but my boys tend to take it pretty easy on me. I’m grateful!

Book suggestions are hard, as everyone has such different tastes. But I wholeheartedly recommend the website GoodReads! Just put in a few of the book you have read and enjoyed, and you can find others who’ve read those same books, and find ideas that way. Or the sidebar will always have “similar title” suggestions. I love GoodReads for keeping track of what I have read, what I want to read, reviews and just hearing about titles I might miss. I’ve really been into reading lately. I love it! I put my Kindle on my stationary bike and then I don’t feel guilty for spending 30 minutes reading my book!

  9. I hope your time with friends was great! I too am starting to feel the crunch of spring obligations. Ice show season, track, birthdays, it’s all starting to hit the fan. And I planned a destination hat-trick race right in the middle of all of it. What was I thinking?

  10. Good morning! I’m so happy we could get together and catch up 🙂

I’ve been reading a lot about meditation lately. I’ve been going about it all wrong! Curious enough to try again. Have you read 10% Happier. It’s a great read and it changed my perspective of meditation. If you’re a Hunger Games kind of person, another great read is the Divergent series.

I look forward to our next coffee date!

    • Very curious about 10% Happier – I haven’t heard of it!

Thanks for hosting the link-up! It’s been a lot of fun reading everyone’s posts!
