My Word for 2026

The practice of selecting one word as a theme for the year is something I’ve been doing for more than a decade – for me, it serves as a great anchor for my goals and intentions throughout the year.

For this week’s Tuesday Topics link-up, Jenn and Jenny are inviting everyone to share their word for the year. I love to see the words others have selected!

My One Word for 2026: Curate

Last year, my word was Nourish, and it truly came to life in so ways. It shaped how I approached my health, my time, my creativity, and the pace of my days. Nourish reminded me to put myself at the top of my to do list.

As I began thinking about 2026, I noticed one word quietly reappearing in different spaces: Curate.

Interestingly, Curate was also my word for 2020—before 2020 became… well, 2020. Like so many plans that year, the intention behind that word never really had a chance to unfold.

This time feels different.

For me, Curate isn’t about restriction or perfection. It’s about intentional selection. Choosing what stays. Editing what no longer fits. Elevating what supports the life I’m building now.

In 2026, I’ll be curating my energy, my commitments, my environment, and my time—trusting that what remains will be more aligned than ever. Here’s to a year of choosing with care!

I’d love to hear—what word is guiding you into 2026?

  1. Ooh, I like it! “Curate” is a great word, and not one I would normally think of. I can see how it would help guide your actions and decisions this year. I always choose a word for the year, but am not good at letting it actually shape my year- I have to get better at that!

    • I’m better at keeping my word front and center some years more than others. I find it sticks more when I use as journaling prompts and month-end check-ins.

  2. I love how you are using “Curate” again, but in a slightly different way.
It feels so good to edit out what doesn’t fit anymore and I also like that you highlight it’s not about perfection but about choice.
You have me thinking about what I’d keep and what I’d let go in my own life right now!

  3. Curate is a great word for 2026 as you build back into running after your 2025 hip replacement surgery. I’ve never chosen a word for the year, and this is the first time I’ve ever chosen a motto: quality over quantity.

  4. I like your word curate! Looking forward to seeing what you curate for yourself and what you decide to let go of. I’ve honed in a road map for my year as well

  5. ooooh, I love this so much! And I love that you are taking a moment to revisit a word. I’m interested to see how the way you carry out this year evolves!

  6. What a great word.

We all need to revisit 2020.

Can’t wait to see how 2026 unfolds.
