The Last Coffee Catch Up of 2025

Well here we are friends, the last month of year! I’m ready to savor all that the holiday season has to offer – we know these days will slip away all too quickly.

It’s a great time to catch up over coffee with friends, so for this week’s Fit Five Friday, I’m joining Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. Grab a mug and join us!

The Last Coffee Catch Up of 2025

Over coffee, I would share a quick update on my C25K plan – I’m half way through week 5 and so far so good! I’ve ventured off the track for some runs to get used to running on uneven surfaces again. There may have even been a hill or two in a recent run 😉

Over coffee, I’d tell you, that I am once again doing one of my favorite fitness challenges, #3for31. This challenge, created by Peloton instructor Robin Arzon, is to run/walk 3 miles or move 30 minutes daily during the month of December. It’s a great reminder to carve out time for yourself during what can be one of the busiest times of the year.

Over coffee, I’d tell you how much I’m looking forward to hitting some of the holiday markets around Boston this month – I love the chance to support smaller, local vendors.

We never miss the SOWA Winter Festival

Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m looking forward to breaking out the Christmas decorations this weekend. I have once again lost the debate with my husband on real vs. fake tree so we’ll take care of all of the lights and outdoor decorations, along with most of the indoor stuff and then save getting the tree for another week (to avoid it drying out too soon).

Your turn – what would you tell me over coffee?

  1. We put up our decorations last Sunday and it was great! We did get a real tree this year which we don’t usually get, hopefully we didn’t get it too early!

I’d love to go to a holiday market – i never seem to fit one in but they’re so cozy and fun!

  2. We got our real tree the week of Thanksgiving, and yes it’s a lot of work to keep it fresh all the way through Christmas! The key is to add tons of water at first- it really soaks it up. The good thing is, by the time Christmas is over, it’s obviously time to retire the tree, which makes me a little less sad to tke it down.
Yay for your running plan! It sounds like everything is feeling good.

  3. I just saw a thing from the Chicago FIre Dept showing how quickly trees dry out and how easily they can catch fire. So scary. My holiday decor is about halfway up. I’m planning to complete it today! So glad to hear your runs are going well. I have an appt. with a new hip dr. in January. It’s time to do something. Ugh.

  4. How great to be working your way back to running! Hope you continue to feel good and pain free. I also love the 3for31 challenge. Just the right amount of motivation

  5. Awesome job on your rally-back, Michelle! The Pelo challenge fits perfectly into that, as well as bring a great holiday season fitness motivator. I have never had a real tree…I only know the artificial tree routine, LOL

  6. I do prefer a real tree but with a fireplace, it would dry out so quickly.

    Good news on the running.

Can’t wait until you sign up for a race.

3for31 is a great challenge. Good luck. I would fail esp during this cold spell.

    • We have a fireplace too which definitely presents a challenge.

Ha! Could be quite a while before I have a race on my schedule – but never say never, right?

  7. So glad your C25K is going well! Good idea to vary the terrain a bit.

We’ve had a fake tree for decades (different ones). I pit it up last weekend because I think the rest of the month will be crazy.

  8. I really want to finish the tree but i’d love some help. I just don’t want to do it alone. Sigh.

Running is going. The colder weather is helping. I really need things to calm a little bit so I can hit the gym, but what can you do?

    • Everything is just so busy right now – hopefully you can work some days in at the gym soon. Gotta just take a breath and do what you can when you can.

  9. How great that you’re able to venture off the track and onto uneven surfaces and hills as you make your way back to running after your surgery! You’ve been so steady at making your comeback and I’m sure your body thanks you!

    • I’m lucky that the track is relative close to my house – though I must admit that more and more I just want to roll out my front door and just go so I’m going to start running on the roads more in the coming weeks.

  10. We keep talking about getting a tree at some point, but have not yet, hehe.

I like the sound of the 3 for 31 challenge!
