It’s the first Friday of the month which means for this week’s Fit Five Friday, I’m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. So grab your fave beverage and let’s catch up!
Catching Up Over June Coffee
Over coffee, I’d start by asking how your weather’s been? Would you believe that we’ve had 11 straight Saturdays of rain – I kid you not! I’m really not sure what Mother N has against Saturdays but it would be nice to finally have a complete weekend of sunshine. Sadly the forecast for tomorrow looks doubtful – hello Saturday #12 🙁
Over coffee, I would tell you how much I have been enjoying being back in my garden. You see last year between the renovation and my angry hip, I wasn’t able to accomplish much and trust me as the winter thawed it really showed! Its been a lot of work but I’ve been happy to be back at it.
Over coffee, I would tell you that one of my favorite Mother’s Day gifts this year was a beautiful fountain pen. I’m a die-hard planner/journal girlie and so I love a good quality pen. My boys picked out a great one, don’t you think?!
What would you tell me over coffee?

I bet you’re happy to be back in your garden! In addition to being able to enjoy the resulting beauty of your hard work, gardening is so therapeutic.
How thoughtful of your sons to pick out such a nice gift they knew you’d appreciate!
Gardening is definitely theraputic for me. It’s also a creative outlet – I’ve eally missed it!
Your flowers are so lovely!
What a thoughtful gift! I used to use those ink pens with cartridges back in high school, and it was fun to get different colored ink. Being left handed, I always ended up with smudge. 🙁
It’s funny I’ve never been a fountain pen fan until recently but now I’m kinda hooked on them. It was really sweet of them to get it – total surprise 🙂
What a lovely pen! I’m also a paper planner person. Beautiful gift. We have had so much rain as well. I do think it’s helped our backyard look so good. I know the crazy heat is on its way!
I really amazed at how much rain we’ve had! And you’re right the crazy heat is coming – I’m not ready!
Oh wow- that pen is beautiful. So you actually write in your journal/planner with a fountain pen?
To answer your question, our weather has been hot, muggy, and rainy. Yes, summers in South Florida are lovely! I don’t blame you for being a little annoyed about 11 rainy Saturdays in a row, although I think it’s helped your flowers. Those peonies are beautiful!
Yes I’ve been using the fountain pen in my planner since I got it – I keep my journal next to my bedside table with a different pen, though I must admit I’m tempted to get another fountain. I love how smoothly it writes.
And true – the one upside of all that rain is a thriving garden!
Awh, that pen is so thoughtful! Your garden does look nice; I love peonies also. I’m hoping to snag a few (or several) when they go on sale later this season.
I love peonies too – one of my favorites. I had the same thought to grab some more later in the season for next year. If you get some, let me know what color you pick!
Your garden looks beautiful. It must be awesome to be back in it.
Our weather has been unseasonably cool – but you know I’m here for that!
Thanks Erica – it really does feel good to be back out there!
Your garden is lovely. It is SO much work. People who don’t do it have no idea. Ha! That’s a gorgeous pen!
Ha so true…it is so much work! But worth it 🙂
Yes rain rain rain I’m sick of it.
I love to garden but it’s so much work. And the deer and rabbits have no sympathy for the money the plants cost.
I’m strictly digital…. no writing…
So true about the deer and rabbits! Sometimes I feeli like they treat my garden as their personal salad bar lol
I would tell you our weather is disgusting. It’s almost 80 at 5:00AM and when I go outside, it feels like fever sweat. I can’t breathe and I am so mad about it.
I hate gardening and I’m bad at it. Also, with the heat and the bugs here, it’s not a joyful, peaceful task, but more of a war. It’s not in me.
I love pens. That one must feel so beautiful to write with.
Your weather sounds brutal! I don’t think I’d be much of a gardener in those conditions either.
The weather has been ridiculously crazy this year. That is a beautiful garden. If you lived closer, I would ask you to work on mine too. 🙂
Ha that would be fun – I’ve helped a number of friends with their gardens!
That’s definitely a lotta rain! I can’t remember the last time it rained here. ._.
Those peonies are beautiful! As is that fountain pen! I’m also a journal-er (mostly bullet journal these days!) + have been experimenting with a whole lot of different pens/markers/etc. I haven’t gone the route of fountain pens yet, but only because I feel like it’s a slippery slope, haha.
I think you’re right about the slippery slope! I certainly don’t need any more pens but I’m eyeing another fountain pen 🙂
