A Very Long Week

This week kicked my butt! I’m not really sure what it was but I just felt off all week. I’m sure it didn’t help that I was in the office two days. Those extra early mornings and long commutes (not to mention meeting-filled days), left me feeling especially drained – I often marvel now at how once upon a time commuting was a 5-day-a-week thing for me! Despite Monday’s holiday, this was a very long week!

Weekly Run Down – A Very Long Week

Lots of gray skies this week!

Monday — 2-mile walk, Core, & Day 3 of Robin’s Strength Split – Back and Biceps
Tuesday — 3-mile walk otherwise rest
Wednesday — 2-mile walk, Yoga, & hip mobility work
Thursday — 3.5-mile run & Core
Friday — Peloton Bike & Core
Saturday — Rest – didn’t feel so hot
Sunday — 5.5-mile run

I was definitely off my game this week and just did my best to power along. I kept up with my commitment to daily stretching but only ended up running twice. The combination of the week’s crazy schedule and feeling less than stellar had me shuffling my runs around, and eventually, I decided to take a pass on my planned hill workout. Given where I live, I run hills on the regular so I’m not too concerned about missing this run.

The highlights of the week were definitely completing Robin’s Strength Split Program and getting a much-needed deep tissue massage on Thursday. I really enjoy the structure and challenge of this split program and have it cued up to repeat this upcoming week.

  3. Maybe you were fighting something off? There’s a lot of illnesses going around now. You got a couple decent runs in though. I’m envious of the massage- I’m overdue! I’m going to try to get one this week.

  4. It was definitely a long week. But I felt like I got a lot done so there’s that. You make a great point about commuting and the way we all used to do it without batting an eye. 2 hours of my day used to be spent commuting. Ugh. A massage sounds wonderful about now!

  5. My week felt a bit off as well, I think it was due to the head cold that plagued me most of the week. I’m not used to blowing my nose practically every hour on the hour, and the grogginess wasn’t fun either. I hope this next week is less challenging for you 😉

  6. I hope you feel better soon! This week certainly seemed like a long one since I was just waiting for my foot to start getting better, and the weather was as gloomy as can be.

  8. I often feel like weeks with a holiday seem longer rather than shorter. Maybe it’s trying to squeeze more work in the other days?

    I still haven’t found a good massage place since mine closed down during the pandemic, but I booked one at my conference hotel the week after next — I can’t wait!

    • I think you’re right about squeezing 5 days of work into 4…honestly, this week felt like I was squeezing 6 LOL

  9. I hope next week is calmer for you! I usually go into the office 3 days and went in 4 last week and I was tired! How did we ever do 5!! Much prefer the wfh days still 🙂

    Way to go sticking with your daily stretching! Give yourself credit for that commitment.

  10. I can imagine that going into the office can be so draining – the commute alone can take so much out of you, especially during rush hour!

  11. I’m sorry you were feeling off last week. Having to deal with a commute does not help! I hope that you’re feeling better.

    I’ve been a bit off the beginning of this week, and with some unexpected travel this weekend, I’m trying to figure where I’m going to put in the two very short runs, LOL! The shoveling doesn’t really help!

    This too shall pass, right?

  12. Hopefully, this week went better. You did what you could this week and that is all right. My commute is short so I do not mind it too much though sometimes it is nice to work from home. I wouldn’t want to do it every day – I will quit if I have to teach remotely again!

  13. A deep tissue massage! There is a massaging chair at my gym (like the kind you see in an airport or mall) and that’s too much for me! I need a light massage. I’m glad you enjoyed yours – it’s a great way to take care of yourself. I hope you were feeling better this past week!
