Week 7 – More of the Same

This week was had a bit of a “wash, rinse, repeat” feel as Mother Nature continued to keep us guessing on the weather. I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Here’s a peek at this week’s workouts:

a view of the moon from Thursday’s run

Week 7 – More of the Same

Monday — Lower Body Strength, Core & Stretch.
Tuesday — Yoga.
Wednesday — 3.1-mile run, Core & Stretch. The weather pendulum swung back towards milder temps and I was happy to test out some of my new gear provided to the Brooks Team with a midday 5K.

I loved the new gear – especially the Brooks Levitate shoes!

Thursday — 3-mile run & Stretch. With a rare commute to the office on the schedule, I knew I needed to get my workout in early. Mother Nature gifted us with 47 degrees before sunrise – catching the full moon was an added bonus!
Friday — Upper Body Strength, Boxing, Core & Stretch.
Saturday — 4-mile run & Stretch. Back to wearing all the layers, but on the plus side, I had the park mostly to myself!

Sunday — Snow squalls and falling temps overnight left everything heavily glazed this morning so I’m lingering over coffee and easing into my day. I haven’t been on my bike all week and there are many classes I have bookmarked so I’ll be jumping on for a ride soon – currently I can’t decide between Tunde’s Mary J Blige ride or Denis’ BHM Fresh Friday ride.

Overall a decent week. Nothing wildly out of the ordinary – whatever discomfort I was feeling in my hip flexor last week seems to have subsided and running continues to feel good. I’m still trying to navigate the new job schedule, so the timing of when I work out has been a little all over the place, but I’m getting it done, and that’s what counts.

Based on the forecast for the week ahead, it looks like there will be more weather flip-flopping to contend with….but there’s also more daylight happening so that’s a plus. I have Monday off for the Presidents’ Day holiday so I’ll be taking full advantage of the predicted 50-degree weather!

In case you missed it:

Is it time for new running shoes?

What are you looking forward to? Any signs of Spring yet?

  1. Well, we have that 50F weather today (compete with a nice windy garnish), and then we plummet back to sub-freezing tomorrow. UGH. Momma N really is having some attitude, LOL. Great job getting it all done around your work schedule 😉

    • There are days I feel like we need to take up a collection and send Mother Nature flowers or some gift because clearly, she’s working through some stuff, LOL.

  2. I’m so glad to hear that your hip is behaving!!! I ran in the Levitates this morning! I had to navigate some snow and ice but mostly it was dry pavement. And wind. Lots of wind.

    Have a great week!

  3. I’m happy to read that your hip is feeling better. 50 degrees! That sounds so lovely. Enjoy the bike today, Michelle!

  4. I love the picture from Thursday’s run- that full moon must have been a nice reward for getting out there early.
I have to work tomorrow (grr) but my daughter is off from school, so I can sleep later- I’m looking forward to that! I hope you enjoy your balmy Monday holiday.

  5. Glad your hip is feeling better! The Levitates have become my favorite model shoe as well. Glad you are loving your new gear. Have a great week ahead

  6. We were warmer, but seriously, I look forward to the day when we can move further south because even our warm days have still generally be on the cold side and I do get a wee bit jealous of all the temps I read about.

You’re doing absolutely great navigating a new job and keeping up with your fitness, Michelle.

Interesting that your moon photo also had the ring around it. I seriously didn’t see that with my naked eye, but the camera caught it!

    • Thanks so much, Judy – settling into a new routine does take a little bit but I’m really enjoying the new job 🙂

I had the same thought about the moon photo! I didn’t see the ring at all when I took the photo and was so surprised when looking through my photos on my phone later.

  7. Well, at least it wasn’t a bad week to “repeat”. Our weather is all over the place, but still pretty cold during my dark o’clock running window. Glad your hip was happy this week!

    Which ride did you do?

  8. 66 on Wednesday and I’m trying to figure out how I can work out in those temperatures. Tomorrow should be pretty good here though too. Love the lavender on Monday!
When we return to the office, running re entry is going to be fun. Still going to try to run commute untill it gets too gross to do so

    • I’ve been doing my best to take advantage of the “runch” while still working from home. We’ll be in the office just two days a week when the office re-opens in April so hopefully I can still swing some midday runs here and there.

      • We go back two days in April too (theoretically) so I’m curious how my Monday/Wednesday morning/Thursday evening routine is going to shift. Runch never works for me, too many meetings. But I do have the flex to not log in until a few after 9 if needed

  9. An “ordinary” week where everything is feeling good is a total win in my book! We got up to 44 yesterday but the crazy wind was a total buzzkill. Still though, the sun is so much stronger already. I will take it!

  10. We are off today, too and going to the movies for the first time in almost two years. I don’t know what to do with myself!

Glad your hip flexor is feeling better

  11. glad that your hip is feeling better and that the new job is going well too.

Will you have to go into the office every week?

    • Once the office officially re-opens in April, we’ll have to go in two days a week. I’m planning to ease my way back into things by going in once a week starting in March. I had completely forgotten what it’s like to commute!

  12. We’ve just had three big storms in a week here, we cancelled our run on Friday as it was really wild and woolly out there. Hopefully it’s settling down a bit now. Nice to get to use your new gear!

  13. The 50 degree weather was pretty wonderful! Just when I was so excited about working from home 1 day a week, my office is starting to pull people back in. But as luck would have it, they are still giving us an option to work from home one day a week, which is all I had anyways (because I work 3 days a week). Hopefully they will keep that schedule for a while.

  14. SO happy to hear hip flexor seems to have sorted itself out!
