Week 15 – A little of this and that

Happy Sunday!

Wow, it felt like this week went by in a blink. There was no real theme to this week, just tried to keep moving. Here’s how the week’s workouts played out.

Weekly Run Down – Week 15

Monday — 30 min Ride plus 5 min Cool-down, Core, and Full-body stretch. I took a cue from Coco for this ride and it was so much fun!

Tuesday — A poor night of sleep left me feeling tired and creaky so I gave my body what it needed – rest!

Wednesday — 3 miles, Arms & Shoulders, and Core. The rest day did me a world of good. I woke up before my alarm and caught this beautiful sunrise on my run.

Thursday — 20 min Low-impact Ride plus 5 min Cool-down, Glutes & Legs, and Core. I had enjoyed last week’s low-impact ride so I decided to try another one this week. These rides offer a great combination of the steady-state tempo with a couple of moderate climbs. Combined with Selena’s lower body workout, my legs were jelly.

Friday — A run was planned but Mother Nature has a twisted sense of humor and thought a Nor-easter would be fun. I had absolutely no desire to hit the mill so I opted for time on my yoga mat.

Saturday — 4 miles and Core.

Sunday — 3.4 miles and Full Body Strength. This run was all about staying one step ahead of the struggle bus. I mapped out a new route which included a stretch through a new park in my town – the scenery was a nice distraction!

Vaccine Update

I’m very excited to say that I finally have a vaccine appointment! The final phase here opens tomorrow and there have been all kinds of dire warnings on the news about how long the waits could be for an appointment given the combination of the size of the group (ages 16+) and the reduced supply thanks to the recent pause on the J&J vax.

Thankfully, going through the pre-registration process a few weeks ago seems to have paid off as I got an alert this morning telling me my window to schedule an appointment was now open. I’m booked for the week of the 26th and will soon join my husband (who got his first shot this week) on Team Moderna!

How did your week play out?

  1. Glad you have an appointment to get your vaccine! The view from your run today looks so nice. Its always fun to run somewhere new!

  2. Yay glad to hear that you got an appointment scheduled! A change of scenery is always nice on your run. Let’s hope the weather cooperates a little more this week.

  3. Congrats on scoring a vaccine!!! My hubs gets #2 tomorrow. I cannot get my oldest son to sign up for one. He makes me crazy!

  4. Welcome to Team Moderna! I get my second shot the 27th.
That sunrise looks incredible. It was your reward for being smart and taking a rest day!

    • I have been trying to shift back to more early morning runs and I swear that sunrise was a great reminder of why I like to get out there early!

Hope everything goes smoothly with your second shot!

  5. I’m glad you got an appointment! It’s so interesting how different things are state-by-state. I guess just like mask mandates and shutdowns too!

    Beautiful sunrise pic!

    • It is amazing to me just how much things vary from state to state. I feel like the whole vaccine rollout here has been much slower than a lot of other places!

  6. Hooray on the vaccine apt.
love that sunrise. I need to get out and run before work.

And yes scenery does make a difference. That’s why I drive to my runs.

    • Thanks! I’m hoping to get out before work more often – I do love a sunrise 🙂 And yes, I should probably take a cue from you and check out some new locations – my run routes are starting to feel stale.

  7. A new route is always exciting!

Hooray for that vaccine appointment. Hope you feel fine after.

I actually think my body appreciated the treadmill run on Friday, but we’re all different!

    • Thanks Judy – I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that the side effects are mild. It’s been interesting to see just how differently people have been reacting to their shots.

  8. Hooray for a vaccine appointment! Isn’t it crazy how this gives us joy? Haha! A new park sounds like all kinds of fun and looks like it’s a beautiful one.

    • It IS crazy that a vaccine appointment is cause for celebration LOL

I’m so happy that the new park is finally accessible – it’s part of a historical renovation and they did a really nice job with it.

  9. The sunrise never disappoints 😉 Glad to hear those rest days worked their magic. That Greatest Showman ride has had so many awesome reviews!

  10. Yay! Welcome to the V Club!!! The peace of mind that comes with that shot is priceless.

  11. Yay on getting that vaccine schedule. I know that’s a relief. We are a mixed family — my husb got Moderna and I got Pfizer. 😉 Glad I didn’t get J&J with my DVT history ….

I’m glad you enjoyed that ride! I need to spend tim on my yoga mat ….

    • It’s funny, in looking at the locations when I was scheduling my appointment I barely saw any Pfizer options – it seemed to be all Moderna.

I have really been neglecting my yoga mat lately and I’m really starting to feel it – it’s hard to make time for everything!

  12. Woohoo on a relatively easy vaccine schedule. Moderna for the best — aka me too.
Sometimes rest is needed more than any workout. Take care of yourself

  13. sounds like a go with the flow week and it seems to have worked out for you. except having to stay one step ahead of the struggle bus, but yeah haven’t we all been there?! great that you got your appointment! We are still waiting waiting waiting while on the flip side all kinds of test events are happening here (sorry but I don’t need to go to the bar right now, or a concert. My priority would be the vaccine but … ok… UGH).

wishing you a good new week!

    • That’s pretty amazing that there are all kinds of events happening there. I feel like it’s a mixed bag here and varies wildly from state to state. I’ve been very low-key as things have re-opened and plan to keep it that way until I’m vaccinated.

  14. Yay to getting the vaccine! I’m so glad your appointment came through quickly. It was the same for us.

I don’t know what is going on with the weather lately. It’s been nothing but violent storms. What’s up with that?

  15. That sunrise! And hooray on the vaccine appointment, so pleased for you!

  16. Great news on the vaccine! Mother Nature cannot make up her mind. It is cold today (30s) and I’ve had to take out the warmer tights for today’s run.

  17. That’s so exciting that you are scheduled for your vaccine! A change of scenery is always a nice distraction when times get tough on a run.

  18. What a gorgeous sunrise on Wednesday! I, too, have been tireder than usual this week and needed a couple of extra days to catch up on my sleep. Hope you’re feeling more rested this week.
