Weekly Run Down: Waiting to Acclimate

The heat and humidity continued to roar along this week and I find myself wondering when I’m going to finally acclimate to summer running. Nonetheless, I’m doing my best to embrace my summer workouts.

Here’s a quick run down on this week’s workouts.

Weekly Run Down

Monday — Day 1 of Peloton’s “Crush your core” program plus some much-needed flow yoga.

Tuesday — All Peloton all the time with day 2 of the core program, and two strength classes with one of my favorite instructors, Chase.

Wednesday — 3-mile run. Getting out early provided no relief from the heat and humidity, but at least I had the roads to myself.

Thursday — With a “feel like” temp of 101, it was back to the great indoors and more Peloton workouts along with some PT exercises to keep my hip happy.

My arms were jello after this toning class! Ally packed a lot into 10 minutes!

Friday — 3-mile run. Despite the swampfest, this run felt decent. To take my mind off the conditions, I turned this into a bit of a Fartlek. I followed up with day 4 of the core program.

Saturday — Rest!

Sunday — 4-mile run. I had planned for 6 but a couple of taps of the snooze button meant getting out the door later. At least I had company on this struggle bus ride. I still have day 5 of the core program on tap to finish out the first week of the program.

Kicking Off Pelothon

So in addition to completing the next 3 weeks of the Crush your Core program, I also signed on for a 4-week challenge Peloton is hosting called Pelothon. 6 teams take on new workout challenges each week and Peloton donates $1 million to 4 hunger relief organizations. I joined the #BreakthroughCrew team which features 3 of my favorite instructors Chase, Adrian, and Emma. I’m looking forward to checking out classes from the other 3 instructors on the team.

How was your week? Have you acclimated to summer running yet?

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. The Satan meme just made me laugh out loud! It really did feel that way this week, especially with the humidity.

I’m so pumped for Pelothon too! I’m on team #LegendsofFun – I couldn’t pass up the combo of Jess and Cody. I’m also looking forward to all the Britney Spears classes later on this week.

  2. The theme this week sure is the humidity! It really sucked the mojo right out of me and I’m so glad I’m not training for that 50k any more.

The Pelothon sounds so fun! I’m having FOMO. Looking forward to hearing all about it.

  3. Another Pelothoner! The challenge sounds fun, and a great motivator. Glad you have the hubby to suffer along with you through the summer heat 😉 I’m always amazed how often my dude wants to tag along with me, especially the past month (or so) with the warmer temps/humidity. Way to go on all that core work, too!

  4. I had such a hard time choosing which team to join! I went with #TheUnstoppables as I am really into Alex’s cycle right now. Should be fun! Every summer I think I am going to adapt to the heat and nope. Stay cool! Thanks for linking

  5. I signed up for #BreakThroughCrew for the same reasons! Have you tried the outdoor fun runs? They are fartlek-ish with random faster segments — like pick-ups during a song’s chorus or faster/slower songs. Most are 30 min long which fits with my new 3 mile summer distance.

  6. Real feel of 101! Holy moly…I’d opt inside for sure!

You’re going to have the strongest core ever after all those classes! Impressive!

  7. I am on team #LegendsofFun.

Hot and humid here too and I don’t like it one bit. It cooled down a bit but it will get hot again this week.

  8. I’m laughing because I don’t think that I ever acclimate to hot weather. And ha ha whoever said “just get out early” doesn’t live where I live b/c the humidity is often highest first thing in the morning. Oh well, it is what it is and we’re both getting out runs in spite of it.

  9. It sure was a tough week for running outside! Just when I feel like Im starting to acclimate it seems to get more hot and humid. Not sure running in this kind of weather will ever feel comfortable!

  10. Um no. I’ve not acclimated. I’m on “summer distance” just like Coco. 3 miles and I’m cooked. Haha! Have fun with the Pelothon!

  11. I actually do think I’ve acclimated. Acclimation just means you don’t die, LOL! The getting out early thing is wearing on me though (and I’m usually not out until 6:30!).

This is definitely going to be Summer for the record books. Nice job getting it done, Michelle!

  12. You’re doing so well with all these core workouts!
Have you finished your family plank challenge?

Nice that you got company for your Sunday run. Makes a nice change from the solo runs.

  13. I don’t think we ever really acclimate down here, but we push forward all the same. We did have a long winter, at least for here, so I have to be appreciative of that.

  14. I wish summer would acclimate to itself here! One week it’s hot, the next it’s cold and raining! Good work, well done, I can’t imagine running in feels like 101 – I’d be out at 4am or something!

  15. I did a core workout this week – my first since I went on vacation in June. oof!! Yep, I felt that for a few days. But it’s a good pain 🙂 Great job on the workouts this week!
