RtR Week 5 Wrap-up

RtR Update

Another week of Run to Remember training is in the books – boys these weeks are just flying by! I’m joining Holly and Tricia for their #WeeklyWrap – once you finish here, be sure to stop by and check in on how this week has treated everyone.

Monday 4/4:  Rest Day.
Tuesday 4/5:  Back to work with Trainer Stacy – 1 hour of torture…er.. strength work.
Wednesday 4/6:  Afternoon run of 3 miles.
Thursday 4/7:  A 5K with the sunrise….and then a 90 minute sports massage later in the day – just perfect!

Friday 4/8:  T25 Beta – Core Cardio.
Saturday 4/9:  Another early morning run for 4.25 miles.
Sunday 4/10:  Mostly a rest day with some core work and 4 hrs of standing at both of the boys’ lacrosse games.

My runs this week were ok. The frigid temps returned (again!), but I made the transition back to early morning runs (one of my goals for this month) – a good thing for sure.

I was very excited to get back to work with Trainer Stacey! While I have been fairly diligent over the last couple of months to keep some strength training in the mix, this session was both eye-opening and hard! After talking about my running and goals for this year, she put me through a full assessment. And let’s just say I have some work to do! But, it’s all good and I’m looking forward to our next session this week. I’ll also be looking to bump up my mileage – fingers crossed my legs cooperate 🙂

So now your turn – how was your week?

  1. The weather has certainly been a deterrent! It’s been really crummy. Looks like your training is off to a great start!

  2. Aren’t those early morning sunrises spectacular? I don’t always get to see the sun, but that glow is wonderful. It’s a perfect way to start the day. Good luck as you bump up your mileage and continue training with Stacey. I hope you are enjoying that “good hurt” feeling. 😉 Thanks for linking with us Michelle.

  4. I feel the same way sometimes about my trainer but she does push me. It’s great to see where you are so you know when you do make progress.
I was a diligent morning runner all winter long then near Daylight savings time and when my family started running I would go with them in the afternoons after work. I miss getting in my runs early and not having to think about them but I can not seem to get back in that habit so good for you on doing that. I know you are being rewarded with beautiful sunrises! Thanks Michelle for linking up. I do hope you have another great week!

    • I use to be a faithful morning runner too, and then work got in the way and I let it slide. It is nice to get it done and not worry about fitting it in later. Thanks for hosting the link-up!

  5. Great wk of training. I bet your favorite part of the wk was your massage. I know that’s be mine.

  6. I’m looking forward to getting back in a (somewhat) routine of early morning runs. I kind of hibernate in the cooler months in the wee hours, but I really love seeing the sunrise and hearing the birds sing;-)

  7. I’m in the same boat with strength training. I did it while half marathon training but now I’m focused on it and doing hard workouts, and it’s kicking my butt!

  8. Good job transitioning to morning runs! My weekday runs tend to be in the evenings but I’m thinking of trying to transition to the morning as well.

  9. Way to get back to work with a trainer! I find workouts really hard after not having done them in a while. Which reminds me that I have not done much of any strength training the last couple of weeks. Time to get at it again for me. I hope warm weather comes back. Have a great week!

  11. OOh!! A sports massage sounds good!! But I’m scared to let anybody touch me, everything is sore right now and my roller is my worst enemy!

I hope for better weather soon! We need to start complaining about how hot it is already!

  12. I know what you mean about the cold weather, it felt more like late November than early April. Well it looks like you still did well.

  13. I would like to work with a trainer one day. I am looking forward to reading how it goes and what kind of torture she is putting you through ! LOL

  14. I feel you on those LaCrosse games. I’m spending hours at icy cold track meets. Thank heavens for base layers! Yeah trainers have a way of making us hurt….for days. In a good way of course. Yay for massage!

  15. I’m actually thinking of making my next sports massage 90 minutes — I can say that here because my husband won’t see it (he reads my blog!).

We’re always working on something. And I do think that’s a good thing!
