Five Things Over December Coffee

Can you believe it’s December 1st?!

The final month of 2023 is laid out before us and it’s a great time to catch up over coffee with friends before the holiday madness sets in! So for this week’s Fit Five Friday, I’m joining Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. Grab your favorite beverage and let’s chat a little.

Five Things Over December Coffee

Over coffee, I would tell you that November was a very hectic month! Work life has been crazy stressful and by the time I reached Thanksgiving, I was feeling fried. Now that it’s December I’m looking forward to cashing in on some PTO.

Over coffee, I would tell you that our home renovations are rolling right along! More of the new structure is starting to take shape and I’m getting more and more excited to see it all come together.

And in the same breath, over coffee, I would tell you that living through a home reno is not for the faint of heart (IYKYK) – it’s a constant state of chaos and I’m counting down the days until my kitchen is unusable. I remind myself it will all be worth it!

Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m already at the halfway point of PT. It’s beyond tedious but I’m very happy that the therapist is a runner and has also done some coaching. We talk shoes, races, and all things running and it helps to make the sessions more bearable.

Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m drawing a blank on Christmas gifts this year (especially for my boys) and the clock is ticking! If you have any unique ideas, please share – and if you need an idea for the runner in your life please check out my gift guide.

What would you tell me over coffee?

  1. I’m so happy to hear that the renovation is moving along! And yes, been there done that. Like you, I am stumped on gifts for my boys–and now I have their 2 girlfriends to buy for! Of course, it’s all good, but help a mom out. Am I right?

  2. Glad to hear PT is going well! It really makes a difference when you have a great rapport with your therapist. Christmas gifts get tougher & tougher as the kids grow up. Ironically, the son is the easiest since he usually wants sports-related gear (like hoodies or baseball caps). The daughters, though? Anyone’s guess!

  3. Renovations do take longer than expected. Thankfully, ours were in the basement and out on the deck so did not impact me too much. I am sure it will be worth it! Glad PT is going well for you and I hope you are back to running soon. You know I feel you on that one. I am going with cash for the kids this year so they can get what they want.

  4. That’s great about PT. My therapist was olso a runner… really important. MY chiro is as well.

Yes reno is so stressful… After the kitchen, I’m hesitating on anything else.

No gifts this year… no one needs a thing… we are spending time together instead. Good luck. I did buy gifts when the kids lived at home though.

    • That’s great that your chiro is a runner – as you said, it really does make a difference.

We haven’t “lost” our kitchen yet but demo day is coming!

Enjoy your family time together – always the best!

  5. Most men are just so hard to buy gifts for; I’ve pretty much given up. I do have small one in mind for Mr. judy though.

Our kitchen reno was pretty small scale, which isn’t to say it was real fun having to camp downstairs with the dogs, lock the cats into the laundry room, and freeze because of course they need the door open all day.

It will be worth it though!

  6. My son shares our Amazon account, and I tell him to make a Christmas wishlist- then I just buy the things on the list. Hopefully I can throw a few surprises in there as well. I think my daughter is going to be the difficult one this year.
OH, I KNOW. That kitchen reno is tough. You never know how much you rely on your kitchen sink until you don’t have it for a while! I’m glad things are moving along smoothly. And I’m also glad PT is going well.

    • Oh the Amazon wishlist is a good call!

A friend who just finished her kitchen reno suggested getting a utility sink hooked up so I put that request in to our GC this morning.

  7. Yes the reno will be SO worth it! Hang in there! Glad to hear PT is going well. Working with people who are also runners is very helpful. THey get it and not many people do. I need to get going on the shopping as well. I know what my kids want but their boyfriends? Not so much!

  8. What a stressful time with the holidays and the renovations. Glad it is coming along. When are they supposed to finish?

  9. Yay! I hope your enjoy your time off + excited for your home renovations! :] Hope they go smoothly/efficiently!

That’s awesome that your PT is also a runner! I have a doctor’s appointment next week + am hoping for a referral to PT — I gotta fix my hip, haha.

  10. Renovations are really disruptive—hang in there!

I don’t have great gift ideas. Video games? Or funds for video games? That’s what my daughter wanted.

I need ideas for my husband!
