March Coffee Catch Up

February went by in a blink and just like that we are ushering in a new month! It’s the perfect time for a little coffee catch-up, so I’m linking up with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date. And, of course, it’s Friday so that means another Fit Five Friday link-up! So grab a mug of your fave hot beverage and let’s chat. (This post contains affiliate links).

March Coffee Catch Up

Over coffee, I would start by giving you a quick update on our contractor saga…we have found two more contractors who have actually returned our phone calls…wish us luck! Moving on…

Over coffee, I would tell you that I just finished a galley copy of Des Linden’s book, Choosing to Run. This was a fantastic read! This book provides not only a great look at Des’ career, her willingness to gamble on herself, and the mindset and tenacity it took to gut it out in the crazy tough conditions of the 2018 Boston Marathon. I’m a huge Des fan and this book did not disappoint!

Over coffee, I would tell you how blown away I am by the welcome kit Brooks recently sent out to the Run Happy Team – so much goodness from tights to tops to bras to socks to hats…and of course, shoes! My favorite items are the Run Happy Team half zip and hoodie – so cute!

This photo doesn’t do the welcome kit justice!

Over coffee, I would tell you that we broke down and revived our Netflix subscription. Since then we have binged Wednesday which we both really enjoyed. I took advantage of my husband’s business travel this week to catch up on The Home Edit. So now to figure out what’s next.

What would you tell me over coffee? Any streaming suggestions? Any fun new run gear?

  1. I started Wednesday. I need to continue.

Good luck with the remodel. Can’t wait to hear the details. I love my new kitchen.

Brooks rejected me. But I love their shirts. I just bought two more on sale.

  2. That is a great Brooks haul! Because of my new job, I’m pretty much wearing all Lululemon all the time and I’m loving it. Oooh I forgot about the Home Edit. Need to revisit that. All the best with those contractors. I know the struggle is real!

  3. Oh we could go on without our Netflix subscription! I also use Hulu quite a bit. Brooks was so generous with the welcome kit! I am looking forward to trying all the gear out. I love the team hoodie 🙂

    • The team hoodie was an instant favorite! We have Hulu but I tend to forget about it – you’ll have to let me know what you’re watching.

  4. So many interesting runner memoirs coming out soon!

We never gave up Netflix. We do cycle through some other subscription services when my husband can get a deal or in the Summer when there’s no regular tv shows.

I’ve been watching New Amsterdam. I always wondered about it, but we never added it while it was “free” on network tv. Netflix only has the first four seasons though. I liked it so much I bought the last season on Amazon Prime, when my husband offered the use of his credits. 🙂

  5. I also just finished Des’s book! It is a great read! I like her more than ever.

Loved Wednesday! And all that Brooks gear. Hoping we can all meet up at camp this year.

  6. Oh, I need to check out The Home Edit and get inspired by it. I just went through the office edit when they allotted 3 moving crates to pack up 10+ years of stuff. 😉

I hope the contractors work out!

  7. I LOVE Des and can’t wait to read this book!!! So many good running books coming out lately.
That is an amazing welcome kit from Brooks! I love the “Run Happy” motto and how cute everything is- I just wish their shoes fit my fat feet better. Sigh.

  8. Nice haul from Brooks! I am good on gear, but really need to purge & update, LOL.I go through phases where I wear the same “style” on repeat (currently am loving tanks & 7/8 tights, with a 1/4 zip, for outdoor runs), but a few new pieces would be nice to freshen things up. That’s good news on the contractors!

  9. I’m also a huge Desi fan! I’ve been enjoying her podcast with Kara Goucher (Nobody Asked Us) – have you been listening?

I’ve been loving all of your Brooks Run Happy shares (and everyone else’s!) Such great gear this quarter! I’m excited that I’m working with Arc’teryx again this year.

    • Thanks, Erica – the Run Happy Team just completed a collab challenge which made doing all of the reels a lot of fun 🙂 That’s great that you’re working with Arc’teryx again – I really like their stuff!

I keep meaning to check out Des and Kara’s podcast – two of my favorites!

  10. What a fun (and huge) welcome kit from Brooks! No new running gear for me, but I just spent way too much money on new cycling kits from our gravel group for my husband and me.

  11. That is some sweet gear you have there! I love the color of the long blue sleeve top and am thinking of getting it. I also love Netflix (free as part of my cell phone plan with T-Mobile) and loved Wednesday too. Cannot wait for Season 2.

  12. I don’t watch much TV but I did love Wednedsay. That’s an awesome welcome kit!

  13. what a bummer you are still going through contractors drama. hopefully something will be sorted soon!

so Brooks is now a sponsor of parkrun in Europe and we went to parkrun in Almere today where Brooks was also visiting. I tried on some shoes I really liked so I thought I would check into getting a pair. Almost EUR 200. Yikes. You are so lucky to have your ambassadorship to get that very worthy kit from them!

We have been streaming a lot on apple TV so unfortunately can’t recommend a lot on Netflix these days.

  14. The Brooks swag looks amazing!! Quite the haul! I haven’t read any running books in a while, I’ll have to add Des to my list!
