November Runfessions

Happy Friday!

This month flew by in a blink (I feel like I say that often!), and here we are on the last Friday of the month. That means Marcia has opened the runfessional. It’s also time for another Fit Five Friday hosted by DarleneReneeJennZenaida, and yours truly, so let’s get started.

November Runfessions

I runfess that I am so over hearing the phrase “Black Friday”! I may or may not be spending some time today checking out the online deals, but absolutely no in-store shopping!

I runfess that as much as I wanted to join a few of my fellow bloggers for the Team Wilpers Holiday Run Challenge I’ve decided to take a pass. Speedwork is just not something my hip flexor needs right now. I’ll be focusing on the boring but necessary rehab work and hopefully, I can dive into the next Wilpers challenge in January.

As I start to look ahead to possible races for 2023, I runfess that at the moment distances of 10 miles or less hold the most appeal. While I’ve seen some great deals for early registrations, I’ll be holding off committing to anything.

How about you – have you registered for any 2023 races yet? Are you a Black Friday shopper?

  1. I’m not going out shopping today either. But I runfess I did considerable damage to the old MasterCard yesterday. I wonder if physically going to the stores in that crush of madness is becoming less popular?? Hope your hip flexor calms down soon!

  2. I agree, Black Friday has really lost it’s appeal since it’s become “Black November.” I’ve been snagging BF deals since Halloween, so there’s nothing I really need to add to my acquisitions. I’d love to join the Wilpers fun, too, but rehabbing my kinks has to come first, LOL…fingers crossed January will be prime time for the both of us!

  3. I’m not a fan of the crowds plus I normally work the Friday after TG. Even though I’m off this year, I’m still not going out shopping. I’m happy to sit and drink my coffee on the couch!

  4. Well, i always have to work on Black Friday… which makes me a little cranky, but then I just tell myself it’s better to be earning money than out spending money.
Yes, if you have any niggles it’s best not to do speedwork (which is why I was slow AF at my race yesterday.) I hope your hip flexor calms down soon.

  5. smart idea to skip the speed work until you feel 100%. 10 mile races are really my sweet spot too. How about coming down for cherry blossom?! Lottery opens soon.

  6. I have NEVER been a Black Friday shopper. I don’t get the appeal. My sister used to be . . . then she started to work it. That took care of that.

Hopefully I’ll run one half next year — but that will probably be it.

  7. The one thing that would have got me out of the house was a “door buster” sale at my local running store, but it seems they have stopped having that, so I will browse their deals on line. Which raises the question — does anyone bother with Cyber Monday anymore?

I should join you on the sidelines of the Wilpers challenge! I think if I adjust my paces down it could actually be good for me to keep me from going too fast.

  8. Darlene Cardillo says

I have definitely NOT a Black Friday shopper!!

I have signed up for a few races and there will be many more.

Running shorter races is fine… better than not acing at all.

  9. I NEVER go to a store on Black Friday! I do buy some things online.

I have no more races for the rest the year but need to start training for spring races in January.

  10. Digital black Friday here as well. There is just no need to fight the chaos.
I’m doing the NYC Half and hopefully Cherry Blossom. Other than those two I’m doing a local 4M as a comeback run for a friend who broke her knee this summer.
    I should have taken Matt’s challenge off but… o:)
