A mini run break

So with the return of some hip pain, the plan for this week was to take a break from running and to focus on strength training and time on my Peloton bike. And, thanks to Mother Nature “gifting” us with heat indexes in the upper 90s along with oppressive humidity, I can safely say I really didn’t miss running this week!

Here’s a quick peek at my week in workouts.

Weekly Run Down — Week 32

Monday — 1-mile walk, Lower Body Strength, Core, and Stretch
Tuesday — Low Impact Ride, Full-body Strength, Core, and Stretch
Wednesday —  Ride, Core, and Stretch

Thursday — 1-mile walk and Core. I had an intense session with my massage therapist that resulted in much relief around my hip.
Friday — 7.9 miles walking/jogging plus lifting and moving equipment. I spent most of the day setting up for a multisport fundraiser for work. There was a lot of time on my feet as I got the signage and mile markers all set up on the course.
Saturday — 4.1 miles walking/jogging. Event day kept me on my toes, but thankfully no hip pain!
Sunday — At the moment I’m longing on my deck enjoying the fact that the heat has finally passed. There may be yoga…but then again there may not.

The good news is my hip continues to be quiet, so I will attempt a little running this week and see how things go. Fingers crossed!

How was your week? Was it miserably hot where you are?

I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. It was most definitely miserable for most of the week. Those early morning walks with Bandit kinda wore me out!

Fingers crossed for a happier hip this week, Michelle.

  2. Glad your hip is feeling better!!!!! We also had pretty oppressive heat (and humidity) up until Friday afternoon. The fresh air does feel so much better 😉

  3. It was a a really hot week here too! Definitely a good week to back off the running. Glad your hip is feeling better and I hope it continues to improve!

  4. I really hope your hip feels better after a little rest. Have you ever had an MRI to see if you have any tears or anything? I am also over this heat! Bring on fall

  5. This past week was a good week to take off from running. The humidity from Wednesday-Friday was so gross. Glad to hear that your hip continues to be quiet – hopefully the time off running is just what you needed.

  6. Oh I hope a quiet, non-running week makes your hip so happy! The heat was off the leash. I’m so over triple-digit heat indices. The grocery store is selling ceramic jack-o-lanterns so fall can’t be too far off!

  7. I’m sorry your hip flared up again. I hope this week “off” does the trick — but it sounds like you did a lot for that event! I still haven’t found a good massage place to replace the one that closed during covid. (I’ve tried two places ….)

  8. I hope the time off helps! Nice that you have that Peloton for some great cardio. You’re all set!

  9. So glad to hear your hip is feeling better! Fingers crossed that the good running continues!

  10. Yay for the massage bringing relief. and the work event not exacerbating it!

  11. Glad to hear the massage helped you! Yes, it probably was a good week to take a break- I’m hoping your hip and the weather cooperate this week for some happy runs!

  12. Here’s hoping that your hip cooperates fully when you run this week. It’s always something, isn’t it?

The heat and humidity were unbearable here last week, too. Bleh!

keeping my fingers crossed things are better in the new week.
