Wrapping up August

It’s a beautiful Sunday afternoon and I sit here on my deck embracing the peace and quiet. It’s a far cry from what continues to play out on a daily basis all around. Each week I hope we’ll collectively be able to catch our breath, but it has yet to be. I am tired y’all…just plain tired.

As I have said so many times since March, my workouts help to keep me sane. And this week was no different…here’s a quick recap of my workouts.

Sadly this was an August with no beach time 🙁

Monday — Strength training. I loved this upper body and core combo!

Tuesday — Yoga. I may have gotten a tad ambitious with Monday’s workout because DOMS caught up with me with a vengeance. Time on my mat provided some relief.

Wednesday — 3 miles with temps in the 50s! I will admit I came very close to hitting the snooze button and skipping this run, but I knew I would regret missing this cool morning. Turned out to be a decent run.

Thursday — 1.75 miles and strength training. I decided to revisit Monday’s strength combo along with a short warm-up run. My appointment with the massage therapist for later that afternoon was perfect timing 🙂

Friday — Rest day. I took full advantage of my day off by sleeping in a little and then lingering over coffee far too long before meeting a friend for a long outdoor lunch. Perfect day, but no workout and I’m okay with that.

Saturday — 3 miles. With thunderstorms threatening I took my run to the mill. Running with one of my favorite instructors and The Weekend soundtrack was the perfect antidote to the treadmill.

Sunday — 3 miles. Saturday’s rain cleared out the humidity and it was another beautiful morning.

Like last week, I had both Thursday and Friday off this week – and let me just say that having 4-day weekends is something I could get used to! LOL! With Labor Day on the horizon, I’m looking forward to being off from work starting on Wednesday and giving myself a nice little 6-day staycation. It will be a good way of getting September off on the right foot – hopefully Mother Nature will play nice.

Are things cooling off where you are?

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. No beach for us either this year. We thought about going but it just didn’t seem smart. We’ll make up for it some day. Congrats on your workouts this week!

  2. Totally agree with you about being tired. Even though I’m currently taking a staycation, I don’t feel like I’ve enjoyed too much of it due to everything going on in the world.

Great job on your workouts this week! I really liked the Weeknd run too – you could tell that Chase was really excited to teach that class! I need to take more of Robin’s strength classes. Thanks for the reminder!

    • There’s something about Robin’s style that I absolutely love!

Hard not to let everything that’s going on not affect you. Hugs to you my friend, we can only hope this week is a little better!

  3. I really need some yoga–both for rehab and mental fitness. I am right there with you with the exhaustion. The recent events hit a little too close to home–that teenage shooter lives in the town where my dad had a business and I lived there as a child. It’s just frightening to think these people are all around us!. I’m not a religious person but I sure am praying for peace.

  4. My workouts are keeping me sane as well! You are crushing it on the Peloton workouts. I will bookmark that 30 min Robin class and give it a go this week. So many classes, so little time! Thanks for linking up and have a great week

  5. Great workout combos. I started doing some of Robin’s workouts recently and really like her too. Like Deborah said, so many great options! The cool weather is great motivation for running, but also for hitting snooze and lingering over coffee! Enjoy your short work week!

  6. Those long weekends sound perfect! We had a few cooler days but now its back to being really hot. I have a feeling it will be awhile before it cools off for good here.

  7. We all need our workouts to keep us sane…gosh, when I was told no running or walking I almost decked the ortho specialist at the clinic LOL I am SOOO looking forward to a long weekend and giving August the boot (literally LOL). Enjoy your big extended weekend 😉

  8. It is getting cooler here – but suddenly, which is a bit of a shock to the system! Love all your strong pictures and hope you have a super staycation with a nice lot of rest!

  9. Good luck with the weather for your staycation!

The cooler temps have really been a Godsend.

I had DOMs after my bootcamp last week, but they weren’t too bad, just a nice reminder I got in a good workout. 🙂

  10. No beach either this August. But I so love that graphic. I’m with you on workouts = sanity, which is part of why I’m desperate to stay healthy. Enjoy your staycations

  11. No beach here either. I’m hoping maybe in Oct but it will be too cold to swim.

It has been cooler in the mornings but I never get up early enough to run. I’m not motivated unless I have someone to run with.

That’;s why I long on the weekend…my friends have been my savior.

  12. It has cooled off here after a brutally hot week last week and I’m hoping it sticks around. So refreshing and makes running feel like new! I desperately need to get back to yoga and yet I never do.

  13. That is awesome of your 6-day staycation. I am excited that I am off on Monday. Work is exhausting and today is day 3.

It is cooling down this week and I love it.
