Runfessions – Labor Day Edition

It’s Labor Day Weekend – the unofficial end of summer. With the final days of August quickly disappearing, Marcia has opened the runfessional to give us all a chance to cleanse our souls (or is that soles?) before the new season begins.

August Runfessions

With 12 weeks down and 6 weeks to go in my Chicago training, I runfess that I am starting to get a little training plan weary. While I’m never one to wish away days, I am looking forward to that first morning I can head out for a run of whatever distance I feel like.

On the flip side, I runfess I had a brief panic attack when this image popped into my Instagram feed last week.

Wait, what?!? Could someone please slow down the clock!

As I type this we are packing up my oldest to drive him back to school tomorrow. I thought by now I would have adjusted to the idea of having my son away at school – I runfess that I was wrong…I’m so going to miss having him around!

And speaking of my kids returning to school, I runfess that I dragged my feet until the last possible second on back-to-school shopping (read: I started on Tuesday). But, despite the late start I blew through it in record time and I’m happy to say I’m done!

There…now I feel better! Tell what are you run-fessing?

  2. I saw that 50 day countdown thing and got excited FOR you! Haha! I can totally understand getting very weary with training at this point. The taper will feel SO good! Hope your son has a great school year!

  3. What are you doing this week end? (too funny!!!)
School is starting again: no more kids at school, my children are grown (40 and 34 y.o.) but my wife is an elementary school teacher ……

  4. Oh, I remember feeling that way during marathon training! I swear, it’s intended to wear you down both physically and mentally as a way to prepare you for the big day. You got this!!

I totally get you on missing the boy. It never gets easier! <3

  5. Good job on getting all that back to school shopping done so quickly!

Yes, the marathon training plan fatigue is real. Even though my plan is 14 weeks, I’m already over it, lol. I just can wait to only run 5Ks the rest of the year after Chicago!

  6. I think you are spanking buttocks with all your training! It’s crazy how fast the final weeks of high mileage go (trust me, they do go fast), and then taper is oh so sweet 😉 I hope all goes well getting the son back to school.

  7. Yeah not at all a fan of the countdowns. MY coach keeps dropping them into Strava, and no.
I feel you on the stop asking meme — even before marathon training that was always the Friday night answer.
