November’s Coffee Date

It is the first Saturday of the month and time for the Ultimate Coffee Date link-up, hosted by Coco and Deborah!

The Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that my proud mama moment from last weekend continued yesterday as I watched my son set a new PR at the league championships and finish his cross country season strong! We’re talking about running a 5 miler together this winter…time for me to work on my speed 😉

If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that I’m getting so excited for Vegas! I’ve never been and I know part of the challenge for me will be to not try to run around and see and do “all the things”.

If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that I’d really like to get a new sports watch and have no idea which direction to go. I love the look of the Fitbit Blaze, but does it have all of the features I need/want? On the Garmin side, I’ve been eyeing the Forerunner 235 – not as “fashionable” but not bad.

If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that 2017 race planning is underway. Travel vs. staying local?  Which distances…half marathons? 10-milers? 10Ks? Repeat races or new ones? And, how many? So many options  – I love when the year is wide open and full of possibilities!

So what would you tell me over coffee?  Any watch recommendations? Have you started race planning?

  1. Awww..congrats mama and to your son!! How awesome!!

    5 miler together sounds awesome!
    .
Ooh Vegas Baby!! I went years ago but didn’t have the best time(long story) but I do want to go again to give it a try.

I am considering the Blaze also…what features are you looking for? I am so undecided 🙁

It is a great time to start planning isnt it. I signed up for my 2nd triathlon that will be in April.

Thanks for letting me catch up. Sorry it has been a while. I took a blog break and easing my way back at it.

    Have a great weekend!!

    • Congrats on signing up for your next tri!

I’m so all over the place on which features for the watch – I know it needs to track multiple sports and I’d prefer heart rate tracking without the chest strap. Mostly I don’t want to end up paying extra for features I’m just never going to use…know what I mean?

  2. I’m very happy with my Garmin 225 which is similar to the 235 — without a few extra features. I went through 2 Fitbits in one year and honestly don’t think they can handle all of my southern sweat. I’m going through the same 2017 race planning frenzy. So many to consider! Vegas is going to be a blast.

  3. Congrats to your son! It’s great to have an activity you can do together – even if he can’t beat you now. 😉 I’m a Garmin girl – the Vivoactive looks a lot like the Blaxe, but has multisport features you may not need …

  4. That will be so fun to run with your son- I love that is something I may be able to do one day with my kids! I need to plan out next year too- I am going to try to do shorter distances more often instead of focusing on just one biggie a year!

  5. I’m in the market for a “real” GPS gadget of some sort. I’m content with my basic stopwatch, but I do like having access to my official mile splits after the fact. I have a Timex Ironman that has kind of bit the dust…not sure if I want to look into having it repaired (new battery?) or just finding something else. Runner probs, huh!

  6. Are you coming to Vegas for Rock-n-Roll? It’s always tempting to do all the things in Vegas, but you need to rest for the big night as well. It’s been warm here lately, so I’m hoping for good weather for all the racers. {I live in Vegas, but am not running this year.}

  7. Go with the Garmin! I have the Blaze and I love it but it is really lacking in the sports watch area. I have loved my Garmin watches! I now have the Garmin 920XT and it great! I rarely use all its functionality but I still love it! Have fun in Las Vegas! I did a race there last year and it was also my first time but I managed to focus on the race. I did have some fun after the race though!

  8. I love my Blaze! The new update even added more watch faces to choose from, I think it does things that I haven’t figured out yet! LOL! Congrats proud mom! That 5 mile run with your son will be priceless!
