May Runfessions

It’s Runfession Friday and I’m linking up with Marcia again  – time to cleanse my sweaty soul. Who’s in?

Runfession #1 – OK, this one should come as no great surprise given my knee woes – I haven’t run much this month. But, now that I’ve got the green light, I’ll be adding miles in June!

Runfession #2 — This one’s more of a food-fession: my schedule has been super hectic lately and I have been eating a lot on the fly…and not always the best choices. I haven’t stepped on the scale but I’m fairly sure a few extra lbs have crept on to the scene – no bueno.

Runfession #3 — The gym crazies flood gates are now officially open at my gym! And, while I haven’t seen Mr. Dress Shoes lately, I have to admit I’m enjoying the people watching – it’s made the time on the elliptical go by faster.

Runfession #4 — While I know I’m suppose to ramp up my running slowly, I’m having a hard time suppressing the desire to sign up for a summer race. I generally don’t love running much less racing in the heat, but I’m feeling the need to put a target out there before I get to my fall races. Crazy to add the race calendar?

I’m also linking up with Courtney, Mar & Cynthia for their Friday link-up. It’s a “Free Friday” this week so be sure to stop and check out what everyone’s talking about!

So tell me, what’s your Runfession? Do you race in the summer?

  1. Oh, I thought of you when there was a gym crazy at the hotel gym yesterday — walking fast on a super-steep incline, holding on to the top of the console with both hands so he wouldn’t fall backwards, for 45 min! Maybe a 5K would be a reasonable goal to work up to? 😉

  2. There’s a woman who does the stairmaster at my gym (I think she lives on it) but hangs there by her hands SO much I think she’s doing a pullup/bicep exercise.
    Yay for ramping up mileage!
I race little in the summer heat, usually because I’m marathon training.

  4. Glad you’ve got the clear to start running again! I don’t go to the gym often, but I’m really enjoying people watching while I’m out on a run!

  5. Congrats on getting back in to running! I hope to do the same very soon. I am with you on #2, though. Even though I’m not running, I’m still eating like I’m running high mileage weeks. “No bueno” is right!

  7. I don’t go to the gym, except in winter and the gym I go to is a community center. It’s always me and the retired guys, which is all kinds of interesting.

I totally get wanting to race. I agree with signing up for a short one.

  8. Love the “runfession” idea! So great! 🙂

  9. I don’t go to the gym, but I get to hear the stories from my husband and son. There are some weird folks in the gym, apparently. I’m glad you will be getting back to your running. I usually do 5ks in the summer. Last year I did a few halves as well but the heat really affected me in that distance.

  10. Technically, no I don’t race in the summer–nothing long distance, anyways. The heat really takes a toll on me. I’ll do a 10k in July, but nothing “real” until September rolls around.

  11. I’m sure the people watching at the gym is quite entertaining. I love doing it at the airport.

  12. Runfessing that I haven’t run half so much lately as I want to: cold weather, shorter days and farm work really put a crimp in it! #runnerfail

  13. It’s always so hard to hold back from running more than your probably should when you get the green light to run after a long hiatus! Her’s hoping your running will go well!

  14. i do NOT think it’s crazy to add a race – i think it makes good sense — just to give yourself something to work towards.

  15. Haha your old gym crazy posts are hilarious. There are a couple of people who talk REAL loudly in the locker room (suppose to be a quiet zone)…drives me crazy 🙂
