Best laid plans….

The plan was to kick February off with a bang!

After a step back week, I was going to up the mileage this week, I had my strength workouts laid out and the plan was to start and end every day with a little yoga. Sounds good, right?

Yeah well…the combination of Mother Nature, early school closings, no school and the dreaded stomach bug quickly turned this week into the week that wasn’t. So now I sit here, almost two pounds lighter (but I would strongly advise against this diet approach) trying to tweak my plan so I can stay on my goal to improve my 10k time at Hyannis at the end of the month. I must admit that I’m not feeling very confident. I honestly feel like I’ve been getting slower on the treadmill….is that possible or am I just psyching myself out? Well, whatever it is I’ve got three weeks to shake it off…hmmm, better get back to tweaking….

  1. I am with you on the sick kids, delays, no school. ( i am in NH.) just keep working I am sure you will PR in Hyannis:)

  2. You are probably pysching yourself out…I think that’s common in these wintertime blahs, illness, etc. Hope the next few weeks are better!

  3. Sorry you had such a bad week! But don’t psyche yourself out for the 10k; you have plenty of time to get back up to speed for that distance. If you want, you could even shorten your taper by a day or two to make up for a little lost time.

  4. Sorry to hear you had the bug. Yuck! I struggle with my treadmill sometimes I can go fast other times slower. I thinks it’s all mental. Just getting out there will make you feel better. You have plenty of time to prepare for your race. Don’t sweat it..

  6. Maybe you are just weak and worn out from the bug and the school closing etc.
Don’t worry about the 10K. You will get there. 🙂

    Rest well.

  7. This winter has thrown us all off! You are going to rock Hyannis!! I ran the half there last year. I will be at the race this year to pick up my jacket from the half marathon trilogy. Maybe we’ll run into each other. The expo there is pretty good.

  8. I find that my natural pace is faster outside than on the treadmill. Plus, it will be so nice to be outside for a change, you will do great!
